Takeover Rumours

If we really are about to be taken over by Multi Billionaires who are about to plough huge amounts into our club, how are we struggling to attract any decent players to the club . I accept the financial fair play situation but surely we have some leeway when it comes to transfer fees and wages.
I’m not expecting Neymar through the door but we don’t seem to be in a position to purchase anyone which seems a bit strange when according to some on here we are now virtually owned by some of the richest men in football .

I'm more concerned that the "biggest club" in the division is struggling to sign quality players

Think I could probably be regarded as a “happy clapper” by many on here. I think most who are regarded as that just wanted the manager to be given time and not to knee jerk to the disasters we have had the last few years. At the end of last season I thought Ross should be given 10 games to see if he has changed anything. Everyone has a point where enough is enough and mine was seeing the inept setup/performance/playing players in wrong position at Peterborough. Added to that not having recruited what we need and is plain for all to see has tipped the balance a couple of games early. Whilst I believe in giving him a chance I think we have and it’s obvious he’s learned nowt since last year.

I’m now hoping the new owners come in and bring in their own man.

Don't you think it might cause problems with the EFL if they start buying players before the official approval ....
Why so long to put ink on the stamp?

Is that a serious question or just another attempt to appear really really zany

Maybe the new owners stipulated no big signings until they’re officially pulling the purse strings. They might take a dim view if the accounts they take over have 10 mill extra bunged on.

I'm in the exact same boat.

I'm still feeling optimistic that the performance vs Peterborough was a one off too and that I'm judging him too early.

Surely if we started signing players that we haven't budgeted for this could put our potential new investors off as they will have been given all the information on the club including budgets under the present owners. Until the deal is sorted its carry on as planned. I expect things could be different next summer or possibly even January.

Mate I’m not disputing anything you have said or the fact that talks to take us over are ongoing , but it seems strange that a club who has such potential waiting in the wings, cannot attract any remotely decent players. We are scratching around like a team team who are going out of business not a team who might soon be returning to the Premier League.

“Waiting in the wings”

Therefore, not signed off yet.

Nope. They can’t gamble on signing players if we aren’t hitting FFP. This has been said a thousand times on this thread.
we have spent no money at all. We are constantly being told we will have a transfer budget by SD. We don't have one. It's a complete joke. Getting premier league parachute payments in league 1 but not hitting FFP (whatever that f***ing means). righto.

Thought we were constrained by FFP not by how many bucks on the board....
Yea wacko, Zanyville....

They will have a vision and tbh will have little input into what happens today. Hopefully the manager is history when they come In as we will get promoted with what we have with someone who knows how to play players where they are comfortable and not out of position

I'd expect players are being as cautious as many of our own supporters.

Imagine coming here, on the strength of a takeover rumour, only to find it's fallen through.

Does that make sense?

Premier league parachute payments that have been used to bring down the wage bill by getting rid of players like Cattermole and Oviedo who alone were on more money than most league one teams.

Spending money we haven’t got in the hopes that that’s going to make new investors think “wow, this Donald guy really knows how to run a business financially well” is f***ing ludicrous.
