Have you been at any of our games? The fans get on the players back constantly and have done since the last couple of years in the prem.

Not arsed about comparing us to them, but we have become a fan base full of moaners.
And we have certainly had, for the past four years, plenty to moan about ;)

In my lifetime (am 55), the only good thing about our club, bar a few good seasons on the playing front, has been the supporters. We are averaging 30,000 crowds in the THIRD tier of English football. I have no doubt that very few if any clubs would get that level of support considering how bad things have been. And yes that includes them up the road.
Their support was bang average before 1993, they were getting gates of 16/17000 and the odd cup games were lower than 10000. No doubt they will deny that though.

It's more the toxic attitude in the stadium that doesn't help.

We've been shit, and still are shit but I've never seen the point of us getting on the back on the players 5 minutes into games.

Nowt wrong with venting frustration after the game, but while we are still playing good supporters would support their team.
In fairness, when we concede, the fans regularly get behind the players before they've even taken the kick off to try and gee them up. We may have a few pissy moaners amongst the fans, but the majority get behind the team.

I’ve not. I’ve been moaning all my life....and not just about safc either.

This is touted about a lot but I just don’t see it. I’ve lived away a bit and watched a few other sides at different grounds. By and large if the home team performs and shows effort the crowd stay on side and are appreciative of the players. Sunderland are no different to other clubs crowds in that respect but are far more loyal attenders than most. I can’t for example think of many clubs that would maintain a 30k+ attendance in the 3rd division.

The away fans are even more tolerant- how many clubs fans would witness a performance like yesterday yet still applaud the players?
