Takeover Rumours

Considering the absolute pile of shite we have witnessed in that time frame I think supporters have been inordinately patient.

It's more the toxic attitude in the stadium that doesn't help.

We've been shit, and still are shit but I've never seen the point of us getting on the back on the players 5 minutes into games.

Nowt wrong with venting frustration after the game, but while we are still playing good supporters would support their team.

Aye let’s blame our supporters.

It's not unique, you know. Football fans are fickle, it happens at EVERY club

Play well, win games, and you'll hear less moaning.

Play bad, lose games, fans get pissed off.

The interesting dynamic in this takeover is that SD will be staying on to run things.

I do wonder how that will go as he will no doubt have to report playing progress, recruitment etc to the new owners and as his mate in Richard Hill and to an extent Tony Coton are in charge of scouting and recruitment he won't be able to dismiss a lack of, or failure of performance on their parts

Have you been at any of our games? The fans get on the players back constantly and have done since the last couple of years in the prem.

Not arsed about comparing us to them, but we have become a fan base full of moaners.

Can see why you’d say that but don’t think they do, certainly no more than any other side. Plus throw back to back relegations in there. Atmosphere was passive going down under Moyes & Coleman. Support last game was excellent. If the team shows an attacking intent on the pitch the crowd responds.

It's just an observation that we like to moan, especially at home. Not blaming the supporters at all, just pointing out it isn't helpful.
What do you expect after some of the shite that’s been served up after the last few seasons. Those travelling fans deserve a hell of a lot more than that shit show yesterday. If I had been there, I’d have being doing my nut.

The funny thing is, the toxicity isn't as evident at away games. It's much more prevalent at home games. Regardless of the result, when I get to away games the atmosphere is always much better and more supportive.

In my lifetime (am 55), the only good thing about our club, bar a few good seasons on the playing front, has been the supporters. We are averaging 30,000 crowds in the THIRD tier of English football. I have no doubt that very few if any clubs would get that level of support considering how bad things have been. And yes that includes them up the road.

I always hear people saying ‘you need to be a certain type of character to play at Sunderland’ or ‘if you can’t handle it you don’t deserve to be here’ etc. I do sometimes think, instead of priding ourselves on that, why don’t we just be more supportive.

Think of the atmosphere at Fat Sam's last match.....give us the goods and we'll respond!!

I am of the opinion that support is actually turning up at games. Of the top 5 average crowds in our division, we are top, we have 10k more than 2nd, 12k more than 3rd, 20k more than 4th, and 21k more than 5th. Would you rather we had 10,000 turn up at games politely clapping or something? We are a big club, playing for a big club means expectations are high.

Let's hope these guys are the first to go when the takeover happens , f***ing clueless amateurs.
