I wouldn't have picked him anyway. 2 wickets against a Durham 2nd 11 who made over 400 and declared is not exactly good form.

I think Archer took 6 wickets and scored a hundred when playing for the stiffs.

Can’t agree. If the medical team okayed him which presumably they did then he had to play. Easily our best bowler, as good as the others have been, especially with archer not fit for the first test. Gutted how it worked out but only questions should be towards the medical staff and jimmy himself, if any are asked, and not the coach/captain

As long as Joffers stays fit along with Broad.Woakes and Stokes then I don't see an issue with Anderson missing cos we have enough firepower to bowl the Cons out...Its the batting that's scares the shite outta me

Wonder if they might go with Curran's left-arm variation and feisty batting as opposed to Woakes whom Root doesn't seem to trust with the ball and who is (one of a few admittedly) lacking when facing the short ball.
