I know plenty of people born outside of Newcastle, follow NUFC and refer to themselves as Geordies, similarly I know a few people born in Newcastle who follow Sunderland and also refer to themselves as Geordies....imo the latter are correct and the first lot are mags.

Spot on. That's how I see it also. They are mags and we always refer to them as that.
They are NOT Geordie's they are mags
