Takeover Rumours

Alan Nixon, replying to a devastatingly handsome bloke on twitter, just said “These people look to have money. But then again so did Ellis Short 😂 You never know until here. No red flags so far on this one. Unlike others recently.”

looks like I unfollowed Nixon at exactly the wrong time

I’ll only believe this will happen the moment it’s announced, but to call it bollocks is ridiculous. As another poster said, why would some extremely rich men travel across the Atlantic to watch a third division football match if they weren’t involved in talks to buy the club . The talks have also been well documented in the press and Donald would almost certainly say something on Twitter to the effect that the speculation was false.

For me it was the Bloomberg report that said they visited but no price or anything had been discussed yet.

That was a week ago and they didn't have a single direct quote ...
... their 'information' was lifted directly from the Sunderland Echo

Bloomberg Report, its the financial equivalent of Newsnow ffs.

Its open to a lot of debate but I've always understood it to refer to anyone from large parts of Country Durham (inclusive of Sunderland) and Newcastle up into the Southern parts of Northumberland.
I was told as a kid that everyone who worked in northeast coal fields was a geordie.Reason givenwas we used george stephenson safety lamps and the rest of country used humphrey davy lamps, hence geordie .Might be rubbish though

So if initial paperwork is done, legal docs being drawn up and fit and proper person test to be done then realistically it's going to this time next week at the earliest
I'd imagine legal documents for something like this take months to draw up. It won't just be something they have started now. If all is good and it is happening then it's just a case of crossing the t's and dotting the i's. It will be done when it's done.

In my opinion.

Think it was more how people outside the North East referred to you as roughly where you were from without any reference to football, whereby now it is supposedly because you are a fervent black and white fan...to me that is just a "Mag".

I know plenty of people born outside of Newcastle, follow NUFC and refer to themselves as Geordies, similarly I know a few people born in Newcastle who follow Sunderland and also refer to themselves as Geordies....imo the latter are correct and the first lot are mags.
This crap is why the term 'Geordie' needs to be reclaimed.
As someone put it earlier - not all mags are geordies and not all geordies are mags.
There's a good claim that the miners of Co. Durham are the geordies after the safety lamp iirc. Not disputing other claims, the origins seem to be lost in the mists of time, one thing I do know is the John Hall nation thing is steaming pile of hoss shite
