Made the dog wait while I watched it. Just got back in from a quick spin round the big block. She had her biggest shit I’ve ever seen. I’m a bad owner. But ecstatic with what I just witnessed.

Before anyone calls the RSPCA she got a big dried chicken fillet on return.
 I’m glued to the settee in a fountain of sweat. This summers cricket is unreal with all the emotion involved.

What comes next?

Remarkable. Can't believe it. How do we keep finding these big moment, alpha male, hero all-rounders?

From Botham, to Flintoff to Stokes, the Aussies haven't managed to find a single one. Nor anyone really, Wasim Akram is about the closest anyone else has come.
They did manage to find quite a few better cricketers in other positions for 15 years after Botham mind.

Michael Vaughan - "I don't think Ben Stokes fully realises what he's just done. That shouldn't happen. You shouldn't be able to do that."

Yes but it has so give the lad some praise will you. You are a nasty t***.

Well played sir well played.
Arguably the greatest match winning run chase by an Englishman in test cricket.
Winning after being bowled out for 67.
76 runs for the last wicket, 74 off 44 by Stokesy
Those last 10 minutes, dropped, missed run out, plumb lbw with 2 to win,...words can't do that drama justice.
What a GREAT ashes series we have had with Smith and Anderson to come back next test

Stokes was shite in the first innings mind, crap shot ;)

I watched Botham live in 1981 as a 14 year old. However, when he started his innings the game was pretty much over so no pressure. Even after his 149 the Aussies only needed just over a 100 to win. Enter big Bob to take an 8 for.

Today there was pressure on Stokes from ball one. Others chipped in but to score 70 odd out of 73 to win the game is extraordinary stuff.
