Durham v Yorkshire (h) T20

Clark and Raine's dismissals were laughable. Straight to the only fielder within a hundred yards. Handscomb shocking again as well.

Christ I know everyone struggled to hit the slow bowlers of the square but Durham should have knocked them off.
Pity! one of the few times I have been to the Riverside over the past 25 years to watch Durham and it genuinely felt like a big event.

Well theres the reason why I couldnt even be arsed to do the 20 minute walk to the ground tonight.

I've never really given two shiney shites about T20 but honestly the players ought to be ashamed of themselves with many people there who may have been inspired to come and watch cricket for the first time after the World Cup victory ( and doesn't that seem a long time ago!) and then to put in those two embarrassing performances in succession.

At least I can make alternative arrangements for Tuesday evening now.

History repeating itself only one week later
After the opening pair are out the remaining players haven’t a brain cell between them
Wanting only a run a ball it was who could pick out a fielder for catching practice the quickest

What’s the excuse this week lads
Shutt 5 for 11 because of rash stupidity byDurham batsmen

The selections of Graham Clark and Harry Adair were baffling. Poor little fella had a nightmare in the field.

The only crumb of comfort is that, to me, tonights defeat wasn't as bad as the one against Worcs. But I suppose the Worcs defeat just prepared me for tonight. When the middle order can't manage to score 40 off the last 10 overs then anything more than that is completely out of the question. Bowl and field well and have a manageable total to chase, then off to a good start. Just a question of going through the basics and finishing the game off, something which we're currently incapable of doing. Once Steel and Short have gone its game over. Choking is the best way to describe it.

Actually I don't mind if the likes of Adair are given a chance. They have to start somewhere and let's face it their not keeping a middle order, match winner out the side as we don't have any.

But surely Eckersley/Robson/Burnham (where was Lees?) would have been better suited in such a high profile must-win game.

I'm all for giving different players a chance. I'm reading the Durham Facebook page and folk already questioning Franklin and North.... Pardon my language but fuck off eh? They've been at the club 5 mins. Comments like "What has North done".... Well he attracted Short to the club, oversaw the club host several top class World cup games which earned the club 2 million and tonight attract a record crowd and overhauled the coaching staff which was never going to bring instant success, at least he's had the bottle to get rid of the old guard who were past their sell by date. All positive ambitious stuff. Franklin.... I'm happy what I've seen this season, I'm genuinely interested to know what folk expected this season when I see people questioning him on Facebook already. The one day cup was a massive improvement on last season, S.Steel a massive plus and young bowlers given game time, very unfortunate not to qualify. County Championship I feel we are doing well, 11 points off promotion with 3 to play, not the worst outcome after recent years, last season especially utter dross. T20 pffft not too fussed, good to see Scott Steel doing well but the batting in T20 I agree is a concern Steel and Short excluded. You've got to rotate the squad at times and the effort the lads put in Vs Leicestershire I was amazed to see Carse playing tonight.

No idea why but Eckersley doesn't play white ball cricket for Durham. Robson more or less a straight swap for Adair ie T20 debutant? Burnham scored 1 against Worcs so dropped? Lees scored 19 off 22 balls against Worcs dropped for slow scoring or rested after long CC innings? Theres never any explanations as to why players are dropped or picked so we can only guess.

Lees and Raine were appointed long before North took up post.
He took a punt on Short who was a gamble given he was unproven in T20.
He signed Handscomb who has been distinctly moderate.
We were awarded WC games long before North was here.
Organisation of WC games was entirely in the hands of ICC including ticket sales.
He overhauled the coaching staff to appoint a fancy titled head coach without any coaching experience.
He failed to appoint both a batting coach and a T20 coach.
All positive ambitious stuff??
We'll have 12 full time playing staff under contract at the end of the season.
I think I'll reserve judgement but won't resort to obscenities.

Still wondering why Rushy can’t get a game in this shower of shit.......maybe he’s being frozen out of the one day stuff which can’t be good news as I’m sure he wants to play
