3rd Ashes Test - Headingley

Hildreth?

Haway man: does Cook fancy coming back for a year? We're in dire straights.

This time last year people might have said Burns, who is the reigning CC captain...
Problem is that Cook would be on a hiding to nothing - he left on a massive high with all the good will in the world. To come back, even for just a year would heap all the pressure on him and when he inevitably failed it would tarnish the image. This England side needs major surgery and this goes beyond the next 12 months
Archer taken out the attack already. He must be fucked.
or being protected - Root can't win with some people(!)

Didn’t look right to me

Edit - hate being right - desperate review.

Being protected for what. They are 142/1 and if they win this test match the Ashes are finished.

If you don't know the answer to that already I can't help you. Have you read nothing about what has been written about the dangers overusing Archer?

Only the Lords rain will stop this being 5-0. England are f***ing dogshit.

We'll win in Old Trafford with one of the middle order fluking a counter attack innings and Jimmy/Archer tearing them a new one.

Normal service will be resumed at the Oval.

But the OT win will paper over the cracks and the white-ball piss taking party will continue.

Now some of us may moan about how badly our football team is playing atm

So what scale of being absolutely pathetic is England's batting lineup

stoke is well capable of batting ag number 3, roy, root and denly aren't. Roy and root may be more secure towards the middle of the order. Bairstow and Buttler fighting it out for wicket keeper and I think Buttler might make a good captain...
A few years ago we had a powerhouse middle order who won games. Positions 4-8 consisted of Root, a.n.o, Stokes, Bairstow and Ali and we disassembled it to patch holes elsewhere and that didn't work - so I would advocate round pegs in round holes.
