3rd Ashes Test - Headingley

Bayliss' plan to me has always seemed to be that the players play their natural games and trust their attacking instincts, he's predominantly a ODI coach and I can't think of any batsman who have improved in test cricket under his tutorridge .

That's what I reckon. The coach is encouraging them to attack and attack some more, and you just can't do that.

Never mind booing Steve Smith and Warner, there are more deserving targets imo
As much as I don't want it to descend to the levels of football crowd abuse, I'm beginning to think that English cricket crowds need to make their feelings known about performances like these. Booing the players on and off the field might be a start.

I think they'll try and do what we couldn't - bat for a day and a half and try to absolutely humiliate us.

Wouldn't surprise me if we lose this by 400+ runs.

Actually, I really, really hope they do, and it pains me to say that.

We need to be taught a lesson here. Some sort of comeback or redemtion scenario is typically why always think we think we are better than we really are.

There's as much grit in this team as a pat of butter.

We've gone backwards as Test side with Bayliss in charge as the ODI Team has improved. Whether that is an acceptable sacrifice is for people better informed than me to decide upon but I'd suggest the case for splitting the coaching between White and Red ball is stark
Totally agree, he's a poor captain and is looking a poor batsman at the moment. Not many credible alternatives but give Anderson 12 months and blood a vice-captain.
This is almost our Headingley '81 moment - a talented captain out of his depth and form declining. There is an argument to bring in a Brearley type to calm the ship and be a Captain rather than a star player.

Eoin Morgan is the obvious choice - bat him at 6 or 7 and tell him to play his One Day game
OUT!

They have been - just need to switch the focus of the booing.
