Takeover Rumours

It’s undoubtedly a good thing and there are a lot of tongue in cheek posts but there are people on here saying they’ve been in tears, raising a glass to their dead loved ones etc. It’s way over the top.

Most likely scenario is not much changes. These people are from an investment firm with the intention to make money not spend, spend, spend. Obviously to make money we need to be in the PL and we’ll need to spend to get there but as I don’t see SD changing his approach based on this news. It’s going to be slow and steady, which is fine but some people seem to be expecting us to buy all our problems away. As LA posted, just because the owner has cash doesn’t mean the club does.

I just can't agree with that tbh.

It changes everything because the entire mood and outlook of the club will be different.

Sunderland would become a club with a sustainable plan for the future and not just on a wing and a prayer.

It puts pressure on the existing manager and players but also gives potential signings an extra push.

Perhaps we would all need to change our attitude slightly and actually believe ...

... if it all goes wrong what have we actually lost?

if we cant succeed in my lifetime, then to try and give it a go is a decent consolation prize

But you've no real idea have you?

Neither have I but I hope it will be a wonderful opportunity and give us a great club that will win things.

I'm just a little curious as to why some people are keen to play it down and advise others to calm down and not get too excited.

Getting excited is harmless.
I just don’t want to make a total arse of myself like the mags did a few weeks ago . They went from Mourinho , Mbappe and Awab zillions to Bruce, Colback and Fat Mike’s net spend overnight.
I’ve been supporting the lads since 1971 and I’ve only seen glimpses of our true potential fulfilled. I wouldn’t swap supporting SAFC for the World but surely you can understand my cynicism.
I hope to fuck that it all comes to fruition though and we get a club that we can all be proud of once more .

this may actuaky be better for us..because if they do it via h efund..then there is c;linet capital at stake..and that is regualted etc..doing it as individuals with their cash..not client cash..means they can be much more long term and flexible..
:lol: That might just be the most sensible thing you've posted on here ;)

No issue with people being positive, I just think some people are setting themselves up to be disappointed. Being owned by a group of people as rich as these is certainly a huge positive but as you say, the plan will be sustainable and anyone expecting us to spend millions in January is likely to be disappointed. If the mood genuinely does change and people dont overreact if we have a quiet window in Jan, then great. My worry is first window we arent spending big we'll see the same complaints we've had all summer. This isnt aimed at you by the way...
