“We’d he owned by the single richest football club owner going” was what the same person told me along with it floating around when we played heerenven.

I’m not sure the deal with city etc but I don’t think they are outright owned by one person/company are they?

Also that was swiftly followed by “if it all goes through”. I wasn’t of the opinion it was going to be anyone mega rich until I was told bits and bobs. I’m nowhere near itk or owt but this lad does have a link to people who may get a little here and there.

Fingers crossed it’s as exciting as we think it is because the climax I’ll have will be unmatched.

The wage bill was always going to drop, regardless of ownership, but I agree it's their work that has brought it down. The point is the excuses we were given for continually chopping it this summer are disingenuous, especially as every high earner bar Cattermole was out of contract this coming summer anyway

We are probably arguing the same thing but having listened to all of the podcasts, Donald was never concerned about complying with SCMP this year but he was always concerned about next season especially if we are promoted. Promotion clauses in existing contracts and the parachute payments ending mean that we would struggle to meet the requirements of FFP in the Championship. As you say high earners contracts would have finished, but getting Cattermole's wages off the books should go a long way to help us meet League 1 SCMP if we don't get promoted. There are many things the owners have done and said that are disingenuous but forward planning isn't one of them.
