Both still playing in the top league in Paraguay despite their advanced years.

Riveros was quoted as saying ‘Paulo is my best friend and my lover. I don’t know which side of you I prefer the most’.

Beware of Google translate.
Remember when we got Riveros? Supposedly forward thinking midfielder, then he scored in the World Cup, and we got him for free. Was buzzin at the time.
Me too, because that Paraguay had done so well in that World Cup and Bruce had a strong record of recruiting from South America. But noooooooooooo ....

He was technically good and seemed an intelligent player but Bruce barely gave him a chance as he no idea what to do with him. I recall him playing in a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal in a 5 man midfield and he made plenty of good runs and had a decent game, we barely saw him again after that.

where? I am positive he will have said nothing like that tbf

I thought da Silva was underrated, although unlike Riveros he got a decent run in the team. The home win against Arsenal was probably his best.

Bruce also had no idea what to do with Zenden who was one if our best players at the time and ended up losing him

Saw this on RR’s list - they harshly threw Mikael Mandron in with the likes of Noble, Craig Lynch etc. but the lad is playing in the same league as us ffs!

Some fact-checking needed imo.

I seem to remember him and Mensah looking pretty good alongside eachother but due to the latters injuries they never had a proper run in the team together.
