Think anything over 4 an over us tough to chase on here and we should gamble. If we draw we must win 3 tests. If we lose we must win 3 tests. Nothing to lose here really. 220 off 55 overs and I’d be declaring and asking them to have a go.

Yeah this is my thinking now. A win without Smith playing next Test is the only way I see is coming back this series. Aussie batting is very shaky without Smith, having a bowl at them without Smith playing is the best chance we’ve got, got to give it a go. Even if it’s just a draw this match the difference between going into the next with a draw or with a draw with Archer on the back of a Five for say is going to be enormous.

They'll want the run rate up above 5 IMO. Two reasons: 1) They can keep fielders up for longer 2) Under no circumstances can we lose this game. Not winning it is one thing but losing it is pretty much Ashes gone.
