Aye. I have no issues what so ever with Archer bowling how he did, cricket is a tough, occasionally fatal game, everyone who plays should make peace with the fact that that's within the game.

But if someone has been hit in the head or neck or anywhere around the spine with a cricket ball at that pace it's nonetheless a potentially life changing experience. Smith might never bat to as well again. Hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me. After something like that, an innings is entirely academic and it's absurd that he came back out.

Exactly. Aussies were telling our batsmen that Johnson was going to break their arm.

I think you might be going OTT about the damage mind. Obviously it can happen but he just seemed to be a tad rattled.

You could hit 10 people in the head with a cricket ball in the same place and 9 of them would experience nothing, but for the one person who doesn't get away with it they're in real bother. Balls like that have killed people before. When you're dealing with outcomes like that expressing concern is entirely understandable and acceptable. Footballers routinely have their entire careers changed by far less grave injuries. It's unlikely that it won't affect Smtih in the long run.

It's like he was batting with a different personality and temperament. Which you have to say is a common effect of a concussion...

That. Or he tried to show he wasn't intimidated and looked to go on the attack.

Whatever it is, whenever he bats we should give the ball to Archer and tell him "more of the same".

Not so much that that's the worry as the fact that he reviewed and walked at the same time. Contradictory decisions that in any other scenario other than concussion simply wouldn't happen.

Wasn't very attacking to shoulder arms to a straight one on a good length

No. We're hardly impressing with bat at present let alone good enough to score quickly and safely enough to set up a second go at them with enough time, and we're guaranteed to get some hostile bowling in good conditions for it.

I can see them getting us out cheaply and putting on a chase without much bother.
