can someone (a mag) explain to me how you buy a player with good 'sell on value' - i.e buying a player to turn a profit on? as is made out that ashley does so well.

What relevance has where we were as a club nearly 30 years ago got to do with where we are today?

If you want to cite that I could mention how we had the ambition to attract an England international to the club in the early eighties before McKeag took control and sold off all of our assets (it was to fund development of the ground it is claimed) or how we had one of the best strikers in the country playing for us in the early seventies and we reached two cup finals or a few years before that we won our last trophy (I know, btw)

That kind of ambition but feel free to take that snapshot of McKeag’s administration as the overwhelming evidence for your point.
we had 5 players actually play for England in the early 80's while in the 2nd division in the same season

Watford last 5 year
Signed 67 players - 6 were 29 or above or 6% of players signed

Newcastle last 5 year
Signed 43 players - 8 were 29 or above or 18% of players signed

As usual you're talking a load of shite.

The over 29 policy abandonment came into play in the summer as cited by Rafa and Rondon.

The research put in by you lot is mind boggling
Aye, though now it's going to be a simple "back up your comments then" reply in the few words spouted by Mags on here. Either way we'll still laugh at the delusion :lol:

Can they also explain how this would affect NET spend say compared to a team spendng the same on players but getting duffers (similar to what we did)?

That's AMBITION! :cool::lol:
fuckin hell talk about moving moving the goalposts
show me a quote that says it only started in the summer
You see, this is exactly what I should say rather than posting the shite I do so I will!:lol:
Is this all you come out with every day? Same shite about @Sima all the time, gets boring man, talk about football eh?

So which is it then? You can by players over 29 now and couldn't before or vice versa?
I it's the latter then why have you's been banging on about Ashley only signing players of a certain age for the past countless number of seasons?
Or was it just a load of f***ing bull?

The policy was relaxed when Rafa first came in until this close season when his contract renewal was under discussion.

The sensible theory would be to think that the 'Under 29' rule was a term in his contract renewal that he refused to adhere to.

They're hardly going to come out and explicity say it, are they?

You's have been banging on about it for years man, using it as a stick to beat Ashley with now all of a sudden you've moved the goalposts and are trying to say it's just come into force this summer.
Wouldn't be trying to exonerate Rafa by any chance?

The two times we've speculated in the transfer market (spending massively outside of our usual) no players over 29 were signed for transfer fees.

I can't really remember the topic coming up that much if I'm being honest, you'll have to show me where I have mentioned it widely in the past.
