on his day he was always a threat, even when not scoring he caused problems allowing others to capitalise...what i have seen of him over recent years (obviously not a lot) he looks half-arsed at best, maybe going back might, as others have said, give him the spark he needs.

on the other hand the VAR system is going to make players of his type more or less redundant with the current 'if there is contact it is a foul' thinking within the game.

He'll make a few appearances and the crowd will slaver. They'll draw a couple of games late they would otherwise lose because the other side couldn't put it to bed with desperate home defending for large parts. They might even win one with a long Brucey punt onto the subs head in the 85th minute for a knock down.
Tell you what, they've fallen a long way signing Andy Carroll even on a 'pay as you play' contract or whatever it is.

Wait what? Fallen a long way? I thought Ashley was good though?
Honestly would rather have Grigg.

Him and Shelvey will be on the beers 2am before the match.

Shelvey doesn't even drink.

Good window.like the good old days

So away we go.

17th will do for me bonny lads.
Ah another fan excited for the premier League to start, I remember them days full of excitement looking forward to the home games excited when the big clubs come to visit hoping for an upset

Then reality soon kicks in after a few weeks excitement turns in to disappointment and that feeling of watching your club barely win a game and in a lot of games barely getting a kick or creating a chance

Saturday nights deciding not to watch motd as it's another defeat or shit draw at home against Burnley or palace

Sometimes being in the premier League just to make up the numbers and avoid relegation is shite

Liverpool might buy him again for 35M.....I am still annoyed at Sunderland getting rid of Henderson so cheaply (20M) I said it at the time and I am spot on today....

Don't think you are tbf. the timing was right for Carroll, we let Henderson go in the summer for a decent price. Liverpool paid over the odds as they were under pressure to make the signing in the window and Carroll was absolutely outstanding at that point - Henderson hadn't been. We also wanted to sell.

That's still mad nearly ten years on. Being in a hurry to sell Henderson might be the most Sunderland thing of all time.

Agreed. But failing to get promoted from Division Three has got to be worse.
