FIRST ASHES TEST: Edgbaston

That's the spirit
It might not be the spirit but it’s a well reasoned position.

This England team aren’t noted for their robust mental strength or even just reliable batting and that’s before you take into account the fact that batting last is tough anyway with scoreboard pressure, and the fact that Smith is some sort of demon when it comes to playing England who can usually set a platform for 120+ himself regardless of circumstance, and the fact that England have lost their own talisman.

They’re going to feel pressure and the evidence is that this team don’t do well with it, bottom line

About the scorecard I expected after me flight.

Twice had them on the ropes and crumbled twice. Trevor Bayliss legacy as England test coach. Be over before tea tomorrow.

We've gone so far backwards since the ashes win in 2015.

We've been crap today like. Smith is obviously a great player but our quicks have given him way too many balls that he can just clip down the leg side, need to get him driving. Ali has been poor too. Barring some sort of mad collapse/the weather intervening, this game is lost.

We dont really lose much at home so not that much backwards

We’re not going to reach 280 and there’s no reason what so ever to believe we can take even 3 wickets for 79 at the moment let alone the rest of them

Bayliss still won the WC. His legacy will be fine.
