Honeyman to Hull?

I am going off a lad on here who gets plenty info right that he knows for a fact Honeyman refused one. Of course he might be wrong but if he is right that does not sit well with me with him being our leader on the pitch. Him doing that means we ended up sending up Cattermole who has never taken a pen in his career

Didn't Ball pretty much confirm he (Honeyman) bottled one on that podcast he did recently?

What’s the point of posting then? Ross sees the players more than us, therefore he always knows best? Ha way mate.

FWIW I’d seen Honeyman play far more times than Ross when he made him captain. Pretty sure making him captain was also to try and keep him happy, since he’d been one of our better Championship players and he had interest from other clubs.
I do think that football managers know more about football than 99% of fans do. It may not seem like that but I'm sure they do. How are you judging a players captaincy credentials ? As an observer I think you can only really tell how much talking and clapping they do on the pitch, or what we perceive as leading.

I can't really remember all Ball's comments on Honeyman, but he said he leads by example with his professionalism and he wasn't afraid to give someone a bollocking if required. They say the obvious leaders on the pitch will still do their leading even without the armband so no harm in having an extra one, which may not be as obvious a leader to the fans but could well be held in higher regard by his teammates.

I have to say £400k is too cheap in the current market. One think the club hasn't got right yet is off loading players.

Maja deal wasnt great, Asoro sold cheap. Even McNair was low. We have also had to pay off Catts, Oveido, Love etc...

That's the life of a League One club.

It might only be deemed as cheap unless you’ve actually seen him play. If Hull pay anything over £50 then they definitely haven’t had the pleasure of watching him on the pitch.

I gave a few examples earlier. For me, Cattermole was the leader and prime example of this is the Checkatrade Final penalties. At the end of the day, leaders step up in that situation.

You’re saying no harm, but it did. He spent the last third of the season out of form and as captain, didn’t show the noticeable leadership qualities that Cattermole did. To me, that made him a very obvious target among the fans.

If your captain isn’t performing on the pitch, doesn’t seem like the obvious leader and tends to go missing during games, he’s going to attract stick. Not to the ridiculous levels you see on here, but extra criticism should be expected.

Nothing against George, a hard worker and a honest squad player, but he had too much responsibility last season and didn’t have the ability.

Understand Sunderland have accepted an offer from Hull for captain George Honeyman.

If true - and it’s the Mail so probably isn’t - then I’m sad the fans turned on him , a truly committed honest top bloke couldn’t quite do it, glad for him he’s gone up a level and keeps his head high - despite it being a dreadfully run club - but also glad we leave space for a number 10 who can play number 10 !!

Good luck to the lad and probably just doubled his pay packet, so for us to get 400k might be somewhere around the ball park thats a good deal for the club...
