Team for the 1st test you'd imagine

Aye.

I think Archer should play myself. In a balanced attack you'd probably only pick two from Woakes, Broad and Anderson. Sure if you're on a swinging green top those three are undroppable, but there are going to be some sessions where we're not. Tough, but maybe I'd leave Broad out? He did bowl well yesterday mind.

Selectors will go with your selection though.

Just depends on the pitch. Last time the Aussies were here the2 tests they won were on flat pitches where we needed an Archer. The 3 tests we won were on pitches that were made for our more traditional English seamers.

I know, but it's difficult to make the correct call all the time. If Archer is in the team and its swinging you still have Stokes - who swings it more than anyone tbh - Anderson and then whoever you pick from Woakes or Broad.

Not sure they are paying much attention to yesterday mind, Root called the pitch substandard.

He did but he should be careful what he wishes for. The last thing we want is flat pitches against them

Reasonable but posts like this shouldnt be allowed without you putting your top 4 down

I'd give Burns another go. I don't see the options.

I think Roy is better at three, so I'd call for Sibley as he's the in-form next cab of the rank.

If Burns fails, I'd be tempted to put Curran in there at three and move Roy up. Madness, I know - but why the fuck not at this point. There's a test match batsman in Curran - remember Steve Smith started as a leg spinner.

I'd tell Cook to make sure his bats are polished too.
