Aye, sounds like a good character and exactly the type that we've targeted, I've mentioned us going for a Barcelona style culture before and again he is another who seems to embody that.

Mind, does anyone else sometimes cringe at the questions? Just thinking of the one where he's saying about playing in front of 35,000; fair enough ask him about that but does it really need the "that'll be about ten times what Walsall get" type comment? Just sounds a bit crass imo
Aye, the interviews always make me cringe, christ, they need to be a bit more humble and not sound like those (unts up the road, pretty disrespectful that comment about Walsall's crowds.

they have repeatedly said they dont need external investment now..thats why they werent bothered about getting it..
four months ago they broke the transfer record for this league,.and the owwner said we are in a very strong financial posiotn..since then they had extra revenue for checkatrade final and play off games..there are howver league rules about wage limots,..they could chuck a load of cash at that to get around it..but that would leave us less cash next year..when we wont have as much money because the para will be gone..they are trying to get out of this leaue as chepaly as possible so they can bspend loads in the league above..htere are risks with that stategy and im certainly very sceotical of it..vut its logical..

It is definitely a risk, if we don't get out of this league this time it'll be a major blow financially. Even if we go up turnover will be down with the parachute payments ending, but being in the championship will likely be about £5m better for us than being in league one.

That being said I can see the sense in the strategy, who could we realistically buy now who would be a likely success a league above? Not many out there who would join. We could spend £5m just trying to get to a league where we make £5m more and either fail and be more fucked, or succeed and suddenly be a lot more desperate for investment and have less to spend on strengthening when we really do need to spend because almost everyone else does (unlike in this league). If they trust the manager and the recruitment team, and think getting players who fit the culture will bring success, then its worth doing it without spending much and keeping more back for the championship. Like I say, big risk is that we fail, but you can see why they'd be confident of going up with the squad we've got now. It's their choice, I think most can understand it (albeit if the right player randomly was available and would sign I'd hope they'd spend), Ross just needs to do his job. If he can do what any good manager does (make a team that's more than the sum of its parts) then with these parts we'll win the league and it'll justify the approach

If we were signing the likes of Eden Hazard, I might just have heard about them. These are ordinsry third division players from ordinary third division clubs. I hope for better that seems to irk the Canny Leetle Soonlunders. Third division is what they wanted.
Aye, the heady days when we spent big on big names we’d heard of. Like jack rodwell.
It doesn’t bother me that I haven’t heard of our signings. I don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of divs 1/2 players but it’s clear players who have built careers at that level are capable of getting their teams out of div 1. Just look at Luton.
What matters to me is what they do on the pitch and I’ll be giving them a fair chance to show what they can do before passing judgment.
Hoping for the best , allowing sensible time for players to develop and gel and the manager to build does not mean settling for second best .

Low risk signings like this are good

I'm completely onboard with it. If it doesn't work out then so be it.

Just reading the Walsall forum and none of them seem bothered he's leaving. Some saying he dined out off one goal and offers very little.

Must admit I'm a little puzzled as to why we've signed him.

Your puzzled over why we signed him based on Walsall fans being bitter due to their captain handing in a transfer request and signing for a massive club like us at this level and leaving a tin pot club in the Midlands? Give him a chance and judge him once you've seen him play.

Well if their forum is anything like this one I wouldn’t expect a balanced view. He’s young with a good number of first team appearances under his belt. I expect he’s been scouted and I’d like to think that there is a plan as to why we have brought him in. We wanted changes and they seem to be happening so I’m happy to wait and see how things develop.

Imagine a 21 year old lower league footballer not being media savvy. Utter tw@ts
