The road is going to be closed for 10 weeks from 29th July to allow a new roundabout to be put in for the Lambton Estate houses. That's going to be a nightmare!

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM (A183 CHESTER ROAD, BOURNMOOR) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2019 The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on 445m of A183 Chester Rd, Bournmoor between its junctions with the Bournmoor Filling Station and Rose Cres to enable new roundabout construction and road surface tie-in works to be undertaken. The closure will be to westbound traffic for the majority of the works. There will be a full road closure to complete resurfacing tie-in works, but these will be agreed with Network Management and signed in advance. An alt route is available to vehicular traffic from the eastern side of the closure from A183 Shiney Row north westerly on A182 Washington Highway then westerly on A195 Western Highway to the Emerson Interchange and turning southerly / westerly to Vigo Ln and southerly on A167 to Northlands roundabout then south easterly on A183 to A1(M) junction 63 Bind Ln Interchange to A183 leading to Bournmoor to the western side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 29/7/2019 and are anticipated to be completed in 10 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.

It’s not like.
Use the 182 or Fencehouses. Simple.

This. Takes less than 10 minutes.
Hardly life changing.

Not a morning it doesn't. You ever gone from Bournmoor through fenchouses towards Houghton at about 8? Long queues already at the traffic lights with sedgeletch. Gonna be a nightmare for me as I live behind Bournmoor cricket ground and drop and pick up my kids at penshaw everyday. Even just popping to the garage on a night for something will be a pain in the arse.

No idea never been in despite living five minutes away on foot for 8 years. Seems busy on the odd occasion mind. Have some beer festivals now and again.

As for the traffic when they do road works on chester Road for gas etc. And have lights on that alone causes massive tail backs past the garage sometimes as far as Elba Park. Back roads will be a nightmare. Fuck knows why it will take ten weeks aswell as the roundabout has already been made just need to feed the road in and out of it.

The roundabout has been built at the wrong height apparently - thats why its taking so long

Aye but I still don't get why back filling a hole and levelling it off takes 10 weeks. When you go past the new roundabout is eye level when sitting in the car so fuck knows how they got it that wrong. Don't see how you can have a steady rise either as you have an access road right next to it for the old post office on the corner. Gonna be like a roller-coaster ride this roundabout

They’ve started doing Sunday lunches again etc which will hopefully keep them going
