Has anybody got the BT TV service? I’ve just cancelled virgin and need a Broadband & TV service, on the TV side it’s really just for the kids.

BT want about £50 a month for 50mb Broadband, tv with kids channels and phone line, I think that Broadband would be ok, so looking for experiences of them.

Cheers in advance.

What do the kids watch? You can get Disney life for a fiver, add on now TV kids for a few quid a month and they should be sorted.

I’ve had broadband and TV with them for a good while and always been happy. I have Max HD so have the Discovery and similar channels. The box seems reliable, the menus are decent and you can integrate Netflix if you want. I get around 40mb which is fine for me. Once you have been with them a while they are keen to keep you and I’ve always managed to get a decent deal to extend or a new contract offered mid-term. I’ve also got two SIM only mobile contracts with unlimited minutes and 4gb data - you get a £5 discount on mobile contracts if you have BT broadband.

All in for line rental, super fast broadband, Max HD TV (which includes BT Sport) and the two SIMS I’m paying £67 a month so £50 seems decent without the mobile element.

Been with them for about five years now. About 80 meg/sec and never had any bother with them at all. Might bin the sport though as we're never on, what with us being shite.

We’ve had it years. Get the tv with entertainment channels, HD and BT sports, infinity broadband, phone line for about £50.

I pay £35 quid s month for fibre and tv but haven't even got the tv box plugged in, its absolute shite. Its basically council tv with catch up, unless you pay loads more and even then it's not great. You might as well just have a freeview box.The only tv I use is the sport and play it through the app on the tv.

We have sky, prime and Netflix.

As someone mentioned above, if its just for the kids, you can get the Disney streaming service.

I’ve got bt internet and bttv. And a landline.

Used to pay £50 a month but got a better deal recently.

It’s worth haggling. People in the call centre are pretty useless if you have a problem and I’m convinced they just lie to get rid of you. Good luck interpreting a bill or, if you go for direct debit, getting them to pay you back some money they owe you. But I’m pretty sure the competition is no better or worse: everything is fine as long as everything’s fine.

I've been with them a long time and they're OK usually but I have had some problems and pay more than most others have said above. My last BT bill (below) was £108 not including films rented or landline calls. The Sky Sports Main Event is £30 and gets most major PL games etc (I already get BT Sport) but not all of our Sky games shown last season which I had to get on NowTV for £10 a time. Once or twice they've showed only one half of our match on Main Event. I think (not sure) they're going to start charging for BT Sport.

Last October they emailed offering the BT TV mobile app free. I couldn't set it up on the iPad and they couldn't sort it out. Then they started charging me for it. 4 months later I noticed and then they finally sorted it, refunded the money and gave me it free for 12 months. They didn't do this willingly - when I said I'd had an email offering it free I had to say when I got it etc, as if I could make up having received an email. And up till last Xmas when we got a newer version of the box (only after I phoned them to complain) we'd had recurring problems with the various players like BBC i-player freezing and so on

The only channels I get access to the HD versions of are channels 1 to 5: BBC1 and 2, ITV, C4, C5. I have had goes at getting it down but this is now the core bill. If I drop Netflix and Sky Main Event I still pay £70.

Their BB is very good, been with them for a few years now and have no complaints. I pay £29.99 BB, £5 BT Sport and £5 BT Mobile SIM (unlimited calls and texts with 1GB data).

BT Sport is due to go up to £9 next week, so I need to phone them to see what they can do.

They can be a pain if things go wrong and it's not a straight forward fault, but it's like that with anybody in my experience.

Bloody hell! Virgin were charging me £66 for tv, Broadband & phone I think, no films or sport but did get BT sport free. £127.86, I couldn’t sleep at night.

Cheers for the info folks, think I need to do some more research.

I wouldn't recommend BT. I'm with EE and think they are the best around but I could be wrong.

This is an eye opener mind, what you lot pay in the UK is scandalous
true. we have a place in portugal and get more channels, twice the internet speed for half the price.

with regards to the op we've had bt for a canny few years now and never had any trouble. can't remember bow much it is but a lot less then when we were with sky. no doubt there's better deals but we're bone idle and can never be arsed to shop about. it's good for the rugby on bt sports.

Had BB with BT a good few years, never really had an issue, pay 29.99 for unlimited fibre

Got in BT 3 years ago. I was a bit circumspect because I wanted the broadband for business use and couldn't afford for it to be as erratic as others told me it was.

Never had a problem with it. Quick and reliable. For their tv I just have the sport channels as a cheap add-on. It's comfortably under £50 a month (and tax deductible as a business expense) so I'm quiite happy with them.

Not sure what to do, I get 100mb bb, xl / full house tv (inc bt sports), phoneline and even when it goes up in September my Virgin package will be about £59 a month. I could give them a ring and threaten to leave but unless I can get just as good elsewhere I'm a tad pensive tbh.
