Ross Whiteley has an enormous run up for someone who is no more than an occasional seamer

Tea: 212-6 - lead is 273.

One more to achieve the psychological boost of having beaten our first innings score.

Might nip for an ice cream.......

Big passage of play coming up IMO - 5 overs til the new ball, expect if we aren’t all out there’ll be a declaration before the Close. 40 overs in this session though with time to be made up from Day 1.

First ball after Tea inside edged by Eckersley for four.

So is the second ball

Literally a replay of the ball before. Thin inside edge beyond his stumps and bearing the keeper for four very fine.

Ten runs off the first over after the scones.

New ball taken - 235-6 and the lead is 296.

Back in the Wicket Gate for a quick Hobgoblin Gold before I go to catch my train back.
Enjoyed that!
Picked up a baggy green...erm....baggy blue cap with the PROPER badge on it and I’m now regretting sitting in the sun for too long!
Will probably do it all again tomorrow....hopefully to see Durham wrap it up.
The unbeaten run should definitely continue!
Sorry for not letting on that I was there.....I’m geet shy you know!

Glad you enjoyed yourself FD.

I’m also suitably burnt despite following the shadow for much of the day. I don’t think there’s many better places to be than a cricket ground in the summertime. The absolute height of civilisation

Right 300 lead. Bat like wankers for 12 overs and let's have a go at them tonight

I’d give them no more than 15 tonight like. Lad next to me says anything over 10 is too many - doesn’t want any of their batsmen getting a chance of getting their eye in tonight.

Then his mate chirps up “aye, you’ve always been a bloke that likes to kick a man while he’s down!”

Looking from afar, it seems as though Bancroft & Lees are the two class acts, with Burham, Raine & Eckersley decent div 2 batters but we are a bit threadbare after that?

Basically yes. Burnham been struggling but he’s got potential. Could use some reinforcements in the middle order but got some prospects coming through as well who need time, as we have a great track record of producing top quality players, so the academy deserves the chance

Burnham a victim of his increased run rate, good knock well done.
A bit reckless. Several shots have been in the air just before.

tbh. Wasn't impressed today, I know he got the best score but he looked out of sorts and then overconfident at the end.

Everyone's struggling on the pitch though. Like the look of Eckersley with the bat.

Lees and Bancroft are indeed a different class, delighted that Lees appears to have found some form after his struggles at Yorkshire too.
I was down today and I was impressed by Eckersley, looks a good bat - which he is of course and shown it over the past few weeks.

Clark must be in the last chance saloon (along with a couple of others, if we had anyone to replace them)- let's hope he takes the chance...

Amazing he keeps getting picked, averages about 7 this season., Poynter Richardson or Scott Steel have to be better options.

Yep, fair - if we could just find a decent 5 & 6

Richardson will likely come back into the side for the T20 but in terms of red ball cricket he seems to have just vanished off the face of the earth

Not sure Poynter is worth giving a go, if he isn’t going to be around next season - as sad as that is.
