2005 for me too what a series that was, still remember it to this day, but today OMG i have never seen game like it, its top of the list sports wise for me, their is only one thing that can come close to coming join first.. we have that chance next summer.. ;)
The Euros? Nah doesn't do it for me. Like the T20 world cup really. Nice to have but not the end of the world.

Game my son played in few year back

We wanted 2 to tie 3 to win lad threw at the stumps coming back for his second ball accidentally hits his bat and goes for what should have been the winning run

Lad who’s bat it hit wouldn’t run lad at other end didn’t hear call and turned to run

They ran him out and won on less wickets because of it

Another run out for your younguns collection ;)

1.
They'd ran 2 and the throw hit his bat and went for 4 overthrows. It's not rocket surgery

2. The rules defined by the ICC, the overseers of the game, before a ball was bowled in the tournament.
Didnt say it was rocket surgery .Plus if youre going to be a funny c.unt

Its rocket science and brain surgery .not rocket surgery.

Goodnight

Winning due to the most boundaries isn't all that different to if someone won the Premier League on goals scored or something. They could have played another super over but the first took about 40 minutes, it's not like a penalty shoot out where each penalty is taken fairly quickly.

It's more like winning the Premier League on the number of goals scored from corners.

I don't think so Stephen, with overthrow you count all the runs you can manage. It can go backwards and forwards for ever. I did think though that if it hit the batsman or the stumps it became dead ball.
Not in this instance. Its a gentleman’s agreement, accepted by all. If it had stopped within the boundary, it’s a dead ball the instant it hits the batsmen

When it crosses for four, there is nothing anyone can do. That’s why stokes was so apologetic

Not quite mate. It's a convention that the batters don't run in this instance, that's correct, but there's nothing actually stopping them doing it. It's not dead ball.

How the fuck can six be awarded because the ball came.off stokes bat and went to the boundary .surely it sjould be four? Same as it would be had the ball went to the boumdary off the delivery and theyd ran two before the ball reach the rope.
If the ball crosses the boundary after a deliberate act of a fielder all the runs run count too. Think of a case where you're bowling at a tailender who wants to get off strike and hits an easy single. The fielder kicks it over the rope, or even just watches it go, and the tailender would have to stay put. The rule stops that.

What an answer from a quality bloke.

I at times have questioned his captaincy especially his bowling choices in the 2016 final. Stokes should have had 30 to defend if he'd made the right calls. His batting has gone through bad and brilliant spells.

But he is a imperative to our success. He's clearly a leader amongst the rest of the boys and had we turfed him our during his bad spells like many on here called for(myself included) then we wouldn't have won today.

I'll never forget today.

One of my favourite childhood memories is my Dad calling me in from the back street to watch Botham dismantle the Aussies on the 4th afternoon at Headingley in '81, then watching Willis scythe through them together the next morning.

In October last year he had a triple bypass operation at The Freeman, with all of the risks that entails, but he's been recovering just fine. And watching this today, if his heart can survive this it can survive anything.

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne super over in the sky!

Sorry,
Just jumping in, so not sure of the context,
But I believe that the original words as I remember in 2008 at least were,

The first ball went for 4,
Then Tendulkar and the Wall,
Where were you when we were in Chennai?
And some day you will find him,
Taking loads of wickets,
In a Swanny superover,
A Swanny superover
A Swanny superover in Chennai.

Anyway, I digress

f***ing brilliant
Well done England.
World Champs at last.

Finally one of my two teams has finally won something.

Well Durham has as well, obviously.

Goodnight and sleep well folks,

I will

Seen as I'm buzzing and still can't sleep.
It started:-
So many special people came,
"So many flights we had to change,
Where were you when we were in Chennai?"

Gonna try again

Night
