Extraordinary stuff. There can not have been a game of cricket better than that ever. World Cup final as well. Unbelievable.

England become the first country to win the World Cup in football, cricket and rugby.

I hope with the t20 starting next week that this gives a massive boost to the game in this country.

Enjoyed the tournament immensely and isn’t it great to say that finally England are the cricketing champions of the world.
Very appropriate word. About f***ing time. We've already hosted it 5 times and only 6 other teams have a realistic chance of winning it.

yep because we had more attacking intent. The kiwis ducked out of the last ball. We didn't. If they don't duck out of the last ball of their innings with nothing riding on it they could have stolen the run that would win them the game.
Yeah, that was weird. What was he thinking? It was a gift really.

I have the utmost respect for the NZ team and players. They play the game the right way and are great sports. Its a very harsh way to lose but unlike the Aussies they won't moan about it.

just get something on it and run like mad. Nowt to lose.

fair to say it wouldn't have entered Boult's (?) that they'd need that 1 run to win like but that's how it ended.

yeah me too. Absolutely nothing against them & it's not a dig at them. More praise for the rules that rewards the team that knocks up the most boundaries rather than rewarding the team that protects their wicket.

I agree mate, it has been a great competition and all the better for not having roads as pitches. I won't be watching the 100 though as my motto is now, Durham are excluded so I am excluded.

Bottle of wine down (had no beer in! foolish mistake) and happy as fuck. Fantastic match, kiwi's extremely magnanimous in marginal defeat. Bring on the ashes.

EDIT - work might be interesting tomorrow, Indian lass is gonna be pissed off!

Not for me Although it is close that second test had everything today had and more it was the greatest cricket match of all time

nothing will beat seeing Harmison strangle kasper down the leg side

We also had

England aggressive first innings scoring 400 in a day at 5 runs per over

Harmisons slower ball

Flintoffs over in the second innings

Flintoff counter attack when we were letting our match winning position slip away like smashing the Aussies for 4s and 6s galore

Giles getting ponting after the grief he got at Lords

Brett Lees unbelievable rear guard to nearly win it getting hit everywhere

Warnes 45 only to tread on his own stumps (edit 90 wasn’t Edgbaston)

Also McGrath pulling out after playing football half an hour before the toss treading on a ball

That said today was still f***ing amazing and I’m buzzing
I prefer Test Match form of the game. However, if you'd shown me the script of how the World Cup was going to pan out before it started, I would have said it was too far fetched to be true. It was a bit like Manchester United in the Champions League Final in 1999, the second half started to be painful with defeat staring us in the face, but the end was magic!

To be fair, unless someone ups their game across at least one sport I think this will stand for a long, long time.

Who else is even close to being in with a shout?

I am struggling to think of any other country that has won 2 of those never mind 3.

France maybe?

Just checked and France have been in three Rugby Finals but never won one. The Aussies have won the Rugby and the Cricket but I think that's it. Everyone else is on one and we are on all three!!

Obviously South Africa and New Zealand have every chance in the future of winning in the Cricket and getting to 2, but they will probably never win the football and neither will the Aussies. France could do the Rugby but won't do the cricket.
