If it gets cut.down to 20overs india need 148 .not a chance of scoring 7.5 an over in them conditions

Its forecast to piss down till 7pm according.to.met office

I assume the rule for the rain break is to keep cutting time and use the DL until such a time as India cant get 20 overs in and then it goes to tomorrows reserve day?

Or do they wait to let NZ finish their overs no matter what and then go again tomorrow?

They have floodlights so can play up until 9pm. If the rain stops soon overs won’t get reduced.

The players went off for rain at about 14:00 BST. No overs will be lost until it passes 16:00.

The next update will be at 15:00 but it doesn't look like that will result in anything but a further update an hour later as it's still raining.

India's innings must be at least 20 overs to constitute a game and every effort will be made to get it in today.

If New Zealand can't resume their innings and India have only 20 overs to face, they will need 148 to win.

From the BBC Website, also expecting the rain to stay till around 5pm

So India will walk if if they get back on then.

Actually think it could play to NZ's advantage. 148 in 20 will be no gimme on a slow pitch which is now damp, against a strong bowling attack. If Boult gets into them early, in particular Sharma and Kohli then India's middle to lower order has looked very ordinary so far. Getting them back out there for a 20 over chase could really give the Kiwi's a chance.

Aye Thursday looks shite :( Keep thinking about trying to book Friday off but when it gets to September and I want one final fix at Headingley but can't I'll be pissed off. Doubt I'd get Friday at this late stage anyway

This .cant see india scoring 7.5 a over in them conditions against boult and co

fiendish clever if true

Martin Sinclair, writing from south Manchester, says he has witnessed the sun. “Feel very sorry for India - their run chase feels unfairly difficult,” he adds. “I wonder if New Zealand choosing to bat first then playing within themselves to preserve wickets will prove to be master captaincy from Kane Williamson.” It’s starting to look either very clever or very lucky.

Aye might give it a go. Only two days notice by time I'm back tomorrow though. Worst case the gaffer says no but he knows I love my cricket so hopefully will know I'm not taking the piss
