Was quality for them first half of the season then let in two howlers against Walsall and he never recovered going off what their fans say on twitter.

Hopefully a new club will see him back to where he was

He's been released. He's decent competition for a top six club and would get a game at a few mid table clubs but Coventry fans aren't at all gutted and think they've signed a better keeper from Doncaster. On a free he's better than most options and he'll believe he can be competition to McClaughlin but he's bang average. Essentially a modern day Perez- top shot stopper, average to shit at everything else.
 
Hopefully if McLaughlin called up for Scotland then he can fill in admirably. Decent number 2 for division we are in.

He hasn't got a club, he was first choice at Coventry but they've signed two keepers and were happy to let him go. He can probably get a game at a mid table league one team on less money than we'd offer or, if we are interested, he can come to Sunderland, have better facilities, earn more, have the chance to play in front of 30k and possibly make the no. 1 spot his own. It might sound arrogant, it's not intended as such, but almost every keeper in league one would take the chance to come here. Most will never play for a bigger club.
 
We need another keeper as back up and this lad is experienced at League 1 level, as long as he was backing up McLaughlin it would be an alright signing.

Burge was keeper for a top 10 defence last season so not sure how it is.

Fairly sure he turned down a deal at Coventry and was linked with Hull towards the end of the year

Link doesn't seem to work but the ones I know say he's an occasional match winner because he can have absolute blinders but equally likely, as against us at the SoL, to flap about like a flag in the wind and unable to command his box. Most would have kept him but aren't sorry to see him go either.
