Yes you could argue we’re paying for our big outlay in the championship (we tend to pay frees upfront but not as much as we used to) but now the money is going to be coming in more.

I do not expect him to spend his own money, no. More have a plan to move forward on an incremental basis and not sabotage that by frustrating the best manager we have had since Bobby Robson (again I expect the usual Pardew 5th responses to come).

so whats the evidence that he wasn't doing that? without going over and over it, he brought in Kenedy (who everyone wanted at the time) bought that muto, bought almiron (as everyone was screaming to break the transfer record for some reason) and bought a few others, mostly who have turned out to be flops. thats not MA's fault at all.

and sabotaging Rafa? from all accounts, he was offered a contract to stay, would have been one of the highest paid managers in the league, and decided not to take the contract. again, not MA's fault.

Under ‘subsequent events’ on page seven of last year accounts it mentions a £33m payout to Mike Ashley.

That will appear in the 2018/19 accounts. That's actually consistent with him wanting to sell the club - if that soft debt is coming down, he can reduce his asking price. I've no doubt, however, that you'll think it should have gone on players instead.

The latter. Definitely.

He has absolutely zero intention of selling as it currently stands in the top division and earning tens of millions in profit but he’s playing with fire removing a vital cog in keeping the team in the division with his running in the club being in direct contradiction with the ex-manager.

But if its the profit he's interested in I have 2 questions:

Is he really removing money from the club and spending it elsewhere or taking back money he loaned to the club?

Why would he risk the profit by jeopardising the premier league status?

He took out £33m in loan repayments during 2018/19. Looking at their cash flow last year, and projecting forward from the 2017/18 balance sheet, that's within reason, and wouldn't have affected investment if it happened after the end of the January window (something we'll never know). As I mentioned above, if he gets that debt number down, it makes them more attractive to potential buyers, as there's less debt to cover on top of the price they'd pay for the shares.

He’s taking money he’s owed back (as he is entitled to of course).

The second question - no idea but the logical thought process is that he doesn’t value the importance of the job Benítez did. In my opinion that’s crackers.

The price won’t decrease in line with the loan imo knowing Ashley. The only way it comes down is when we are relegated.

I’d rather it was spent on the training ground and the academy tbf.

Shocking that mind
See below!

Some people are going over the top but there’s a legitimate reason to be frustrated/upset.

Regardless of what the majority of this place thinks, Rafa Benitez is a very good manager and is probably the best we could have hoped for (I expect the standard Pardew 5th responses on the back of this from the usual suspects, ignoring the different circumstances - can’t be arsed) under the circumstances. He’s a genuinely decent bloke who is the antithesis of the current administration. He’s stopped all of the injury crises we used to have and has got us defending better than I’ve ever seen.

Quite a bit of it though is the ‘double-underlining‘ of how Ashley wants to run the club as an ambitionless husk. Content with only finishing 17th every season with absolutely no will to progress beyond that point. Goes against what most consider as ‘sport’.
Have you read through the replies here man? It's f***ing embarassing as surely no other club has gone on like this before losing a manager?

I'm really lost for words

After the tragedy that happened with Leicester, its disgraceful to even joke about stuff like that in my opinion like

Oh and a decent manager helps, too. Again not expecting agreement but we had that and more before the events of this week imo.

Most people on here would probably totally agree, but if you believe that you ‘had that and more’ as you put it, then why would you want to get rid of the man who gave you all that?

so whats the evidence that he wasn't doing that? without going over and over it, he brought in Kenedy (who everyone wanted at the time) bought that muto, bought almiron (as everyone was screaming to break the transfer record for some reason) and bought a few others, mostly who have turned out to be flops. thats not MA's fault at all.

Absolutely Ashley's fault
As any mag will tell you none of those were Rafas first choice signings and he was constrained by the budget Ashley put on him

Thanks.

My knowledge of football finances is obviously limited, and I've often looked at people saying that "Ashley is using NUFC money to finance his high street businesses" and thought "is that correct / legal".

He’s taking money he’s owed back (as he is entitled to of course).

Fair enough to both, as its really impossible to second guess even people you know.

Mind you, I do actually believe that a manager could come in and spend the money available and actually improve the team in terms of attacking and goals scored.

They truly are scum, wishing a helicopter to crash because they lost a manager and like Ashley. I hope they get what’s coming to them.

After the outcry when 2 of their fans were killed in an air disaster, a owner of a premier league club was killed in a crash and Sala recently. They would actually wish this on someone and their family.

Scum, don’t care if it’s a minority or not, it’s gone too far this whole Rafa thing.

I’d forgotten about that.
