Hughton was a great guy - but most of the games under him were in the Chumpionship where of course we are going to win a bigger % .

So not really a valid comparison....

Enlighten us then. Apart from getting promoted back to the Premier after HE relegated them. What has he done to deserve such cult like following other than be a big name that deluded mags think fits in with their enormous club!

Cant remember the last Sunderland manager the fans truly got behind. For sure a few provided the short term miracles the club needed to salvage Premier survival. But

This is where there is a disconnect. No enlightenment is possible as to why Newcastle fans had a relationship with Rafa that Sunderland fans will understand. That is because we are Newcastle and Sunderland fans. Read the neutral football concensus though & there is agreement that Benitez made Newcastle a far better team than the resources provided.
