This week has been great news for Stew, Chas and Jacky. The mackem smugness factor is almost at levels where you won the Checkatrade, won the play off and were spending a fortune strengthening the side for a successful Championship campaign.

Because you are mistaking fianancial ruin for ambition.

The reason you aren't progressing is because your world class manager has played it safe.

Daryl Murphy (Was bought to do a job yes, Well worth the money as it happens, he helped get us out of the Championship at the first time of asking)
Joselu (yeah he is shyte, a scratch your head moment he is, although when only given the funds to shop at aldi you get aldi products)
Diame (He has been ok to fair, not one I will miss, but 2nd season he was ok)
Clark (I like him, just a solid professional, nothing outstanding but I cant fault his work ethic)
Yedlin (Again I like him, wont set the world alight and a position I would look to strengthen but not my immediate concern)
Rondon (He was a loan, and one I would make permanent if I could)
Gayle (yeah, not cut out for the Premiership but got us back into the Premiership so money well spent)
Atsu (potential is there, but he wont make the grade, a squad filler at best)

All signings that were never going to grow and were bought to do a job and just that.

The time he did gamble

Almiron (It's no coincidence that our fortunes changed around his arrival, well his and Longstaffs. Besides it's way too early to either claim he is the bees knees or a complete flop. Personally I believe he will fill into the role and become a very good Premier league midfielder, but that is just my opinion)
Muto (lol can't argue with that one)
Sels (yeah he was shit)
Murphy winger (hmmm, yeah he was a waist of cash)

It went wrong.

Maybe your world class manager didn't do such a great job. It how you spend it not how much you spend.

Look at James Maddison went for similar money to Almiron and looks twice the player.

As a whole, yes it's not how you much you spend but who you spend on. But when you restricted to a certain type of player, your pool is much smaller, do you think Joselu was Rafas first choice target? I remember us losing out on a number of players and the stumbling block was something stupid like 1million pounds. Now I know you have to draw a line somewhere, but when you can get the player that you want and it will only cost 1million more than your clubs evaluation of that player, then you are fucked..
You go to Aldi.

As predictable as ever,

Pleased to hear you’re ok. Have you been crying into the tea towel on your head?

One of the lads in the office who supports the mags was on NUFC Blog and to my amusement saw Mr Moyes has apparently been linked...Christmas and Birthday right there!!! Imagine that :lol::lol:

This seems to be the latest buzz phrase
"Do you think such and such was Rafas no 1 target"
Do you not think this applies to every manager in the league? Ffs even Klopp and Guardiola won't get all of their first choice targets.

I see Mourinho is favourite with the bookies.

It’s unlikely but should that happen, will the mags be unhappy he’s the manager and not Benítez? Despite the fact Mourinho is more successful?

I don't get the love in, even John Carver didn't take the mags down.
Pardew did a lot better than Rafa did.

I suppose Pardew is too slim for them though...

One thing I don’t get here - Ashley didn’t sack him did he? Surely it’s Rafa who walked and refused to sign?

Of course they wont, but their first choice players are a league above ours, and their second choice players are still a league above.. and so on and so on.
It's all relative, the further down the shit table of players you have to pool from the more chance you have shit.

You could argue, and a better argument would be, there was no need to spend the Joselu money, because we already had a player of his quality anyway in Mitrovic.

just needing someone with the photo shop skills to have sir bobby, looking down from the heavens, to JM and saying something like,"you're the chosen one.you'll do for me".
