Tin hat on but still think the big difference here is the bowling, they bowled full first up and got 2 to swing, great wickets

We didn't

Imagine if Aussie's were 20-2, its a different game

Don’t need a tin hat on, it was obvious. We bowled 13% of deliveries on a good length, everything else was back of a length or short. They took two wickets early with full balls.

On top of that, we consistently get outbowled in our own conditions, I’d love to know what the thought process is and who is making these decisions regarding where to bowl.

Behave yourself, have you seen how bad our top order batting has been? Did you see how bad we were in Australia last time around? Did you see how bad we were against Pakistan last summer?

You know exactly what we’re getting at. When senior pundits and legends of the game are saying it, why would you question it?

Eh?

whats lack of good openers got to do with ODI cricket?

I have no idea what this post is even supposed to mean, people on here are so f***ing negative its embarrassing man

Dunno why some watch it, they seem to get no enjoyment out of it

Aye so the pakistan series performance counts, but the india performance doesn't, Aye ok mate, nice one, ffs. Selective shite as always

How have we got all our eggs in one basket?

We thrashed India 4-1 last summer and then went an won 3-0 in Sri Lanka?

Genuine question

We have been a pretty good test team for a while now, just not great as struggled to replace some legends who retired.
Fuck me, I'm surprised I haven't been told I "hate England!"

Firstly, the way the County Championship has been utterly and ruthlessly been pushed to the sidelines in order to favour white ball Cricket. I know the RLODC has suffered too this year, but that still took preference over red ball cricket.

That we still have a coach in place who is quite clearly excellent in 50 over cricket, but has made a repeated hash of the Test side of the game.

That Test series at home have played second fiddle in terms of timing, to 50 over games.

The lack of preparation for overseas tours.
Just look at the schedule for NZ in December!

Sri Lanka was a superb achievement - and I don't buy the whole "yeah but they're shit" crap, if you win 3-0 out there you've done excellent - but that's where having a coaching staff who've coached their national team come in handy..

It's just felt like the ECB have been desperately trying to chase this tournament to the detriment of everything else. And, unfortunately, it's going tits up... Again.

It all counts you spenk, which is why I mentioned the Series’ that YOU omitted. I was highlighting your ‘selective shite’ (*insert lol smiley here*) and the top order is made up of more than just openers.

It comes down to attitude and planning - because ‘Team England’ put ODI cricket on the top of the priority pile, we consistently played bad cricket, with braindead batting and too many occasions of our players not being able to read the situation of the game. The sort of things that over time would be addressed if there was enough time and desire to do so. The kind of thing coaches coach if they’re given the tools. We’re they? It appears not. We’ll see how the summer pans out, but how many times do you think we’ll be five down for less than a hundred? I’ll say more times than not. There you go.

I think they have put it up there with tests, which I think needed to be done and I am glad it has

I don't agree that its all eggs in one basket like, ODI cricket we play just as much as test, the grounds sell out around the world, we had to start taking it seriously, and I am glad we did

Our test side has been up and down but still pretty decent a lot of the time, we've lost some world class players and haven't been able to replace them IMO the biggest reason

Just think this argument is oversimplified, we had to take ODI more seriously, its incredibly popular and we play so much of it,

Its worked, wether we fail in this WC or not IMO

I stopped listening when you ignored the fact we hammered India but placed such importance on the pakistan series for some reason

never fails to amaze me how selective some posters are when discussing the tests results!

These two really need to be there at 200.

100% aye

no chance Mo is batting any length of time
