Simple answer allardyce didn't win the European Cup with Liverpool, that might sound bizzare and crazy but it's true

Absolutely. They were dazzled by his track record and felt his past success was befitting of their club. In truth, he was a bit of a busted flush and achieved no more with Newcastle than several other managers who don’t attract anywhere near the same levels of adulation

Well I am not in melt down mode.
Lets be honest, Rafa was working with restrictions, Having to sell to buy and all that crap.. Limiting his choice of player to bargain basement buys and only those within a certain age range and sell on value. Yeah ok, lots of managers are under them constraints..

What Rafa did for us as a fan base was give us some belief, you could argue and you lot will argue that it was solely down to him being a big name manager. Not the case, or possibly not entirely the case. We had just had some Yes men in Pardew, Joke in ere, and even worse, the greatest manager in the history of the game Carver.
When he first came in he visited local sports halls and schools and looked like (can't say for sure if it was real or good personal PR) he gave a shit. He kept pushing for changes at our club and was always at loggerheads with Ashley.

Even if you don't see it he will be missed by us as fans, like it or not we liked him. We even accepted, or atleast most of us accepted the negative football because that was the tools he was provided. He made mistakes in purchasing players and he made some good purchases.
Overall I am happy he was at Newcastle and wish him the best of luck where ever he ends up.

What they gonna do with the banners with his face on? He was a manager who was as successful with them as Steve Bruce was with us.

And that’s the downside - they might actually get a good manager (like pardew or something who got them fifth) now. Rafa was a master of spin but very mediocre. Nothing more
