Pardew had Graham Carr scouting and bringing in players good enough to sell for a profit and get them 5th. As soon as Rafa came in, he binned Carr off to buy the players he wanted. No surprise they’ve never reached the same position since, as Benitez couldn’t get value for money if he f***ing tried.

Aye, the likes of Mertens, Koulibaly and Jorginho were absolute ripoffs.

I’ll not bother going into some of the better value signings for us as, well, there’s not much point.
 
Benitez will stay at Newcastle. No other club wants him. He'll come out with a load of shite that he had heaps of offers but it was the love he had for the fans that made him stay.

Makes good sense. Rafa on £5 million, Monk around £1 million. Should this take over happen, Monk will be paid off if not, Mike has a low cost manager that will sign Championship players on low wages

I thought Carr had pretty mixed results whilst up the road, yeah he identified Cabaye etc but he also brought in Marveaux, Saivet etc too.

I know Benitez has made some good signings for you but again some of the cash he initially flung about on Hanley, Murphy, Sels etc was scandalous mind!!!

I’ve heard he (wrongly) wants to stay in the Premier League. He’s already turned down being any part of a Rondon swap deal with West Brom.

Every scout/manager has mixed results in the transfer market.

Daryl Murphy wasn’t that bad tbf, scored some pretty important goals for us when we were promoted so I have no issues with that one. I’ll give you the others though.
