Which standard is higher - NEPL or DCL?

I’m moving back to the NE soon (Durham or the surrounding area). I’ll be be looking to join a club, (social cricketer) currently playing ESCA Div4 (out of 8 divisions)

I can’t work out which is the higher standard, NEPL or DCL? I’ll be looking for a setup that’s got the right combination of competitive and social cricket

Thanks in advance!

NEPL, is top standard in the area.
DCL is in the middle.
NEDCL is the bottom.
With promotion between all three.
Perfect, thanks - and plans are afoot to merge DCL and NEDCL, correct?

Also, how does relegation work - does it go by the first Xl performance, ie if first Xl finish bottom the second Xl will also drop down the pyramid?

If you want to play weekend social cricket then maybe best to find a Club that has a team in the Hetton Lyons Sunday League. There’s 2 divisions so plenty to choose from.

You might want to look at the Northumberland Tyneside Cricket League also depending on where you re locate to. They have teams located from Berwick to Lanchester .Most teams are in Northumberland ,Tyneside and North West Durham based over 6 divisions.
They feed into the NEPL on the same basis as Durham Cricket League .
Also depends on how far you are prepared to travel for away games.

Littletown has 2 Saturday teams in the DCL plus 2 teams in the Hetton Lyons Sunday league. We also have a 3rd team plays on Thursdays.

Plenty of chances for various levels of cricket.

Welcome at Washington.

1st team will hopefully be promoted into the NEPL Premier Division, 2nd’s will hopefully stop up in the top division for second teams.

We also have two Sunday teams, One NEPL and the other in another league.

If the merger happens, then second teams can move independently of their first team (but cant be in the same division).
So my club East Rainton runs two teams in the NEDCL playing Saturdays and evening cup games. Playing a 45 overs per side, win/lose format.
You would be welcome at East Rainton, but plenty of clubs around in the durham area.

Thanks, and thanks to those for the invites to turn up - I’m sure there’s a club somewhere with a vacancy for an ageing left arm seamer!

BTW - Any that I should immediately strike off the list - mag infested, rotten core?
