This is one of pet hates with the mags when they bang on about “get wu back to the glory days of keegan” The glory days they keep banging about was a period were they won nothing.

They had success years ago, yet they never seem to mention it. They rather talk about a time when they nearly won something. It’s a case of the Sky culture imo.

This baffles me about the fuckers too. They seem to think that the top 6 is their natural rightful position. Obviously this is based on that’s where they were when they discovered football existed and all climbed aboard the Geordie nation bandwagon.

The reality is other than 3-4 seasons under Keegan, 2-3 seasons under Robson and 1 freak season under Pardiola they’ve been a mid-lower top flight or second division side for 60-odd year.

Works both ways though. In last 60 years Sunderland best years have been more recent ones. The 40 years 1959-1999 rank mediocrity. 2000 to date couple of 7th place & 10 year run in top flight. All Keegan did at Newcastle along with Robson was show what is possible if everything clicks into place at same time but short lived & cant be sustained.

How many FA Cups or any major competitive trophies did NUFC win in our rank mediocity period from 1959-99?

One Fairs Cup. As you know. Didnt think that was the point though. If Newcastle won no major trophies during Keegan why did Sunderland haemorraghe so much support to Newcastle. Unless trophies dont really matter.

Absolutely agree. I just think you won’t find many Sunderland fans who think we can be much more than a mediocre PL team and that’s on a good day. The majority of mags seem to think that they ‘belong’ in the top 5 or 6 of the PL. The last 2-3 years they’ve been about their historic average position yet they’re going divvy with Mike Ashley for holding them back. I’ve got loads of non SAFC mates who agree that they have an unjustifiable sense of entitlement which makes them so unlikeable as a fan base.

none.

you're now it would seem an established 3rd tier football club.
you've recently reached the final of the checkatrade trophy, which isn't a bad feat for a club in your current position.
are you happy with this?
of course you're f***ing not.
when you finished 7th under reid would rather have improved, stagnated or declined?
every football supporter on gods green earth wants their club to prosper, regardless of the possibility of it becoming reality.

Maybe you're confusing desire and dreaming with entitlement.

Every club has dreams and desires. I dream that one day we’ll win at Wembley.

You got to have hope and ambition but when it doesn’t work out you have to sit and take your medicine.

Or you could smash the lot up, shout at a shop and assault a horse. Whatever you find works for you.

 mind, you forgot:

Mock funerals, shouting at restaurants, taking their shoes off (for some bizarre reason), "boycouting" the clerb, having a mass 'walk-in' where they were encouraged to have an extra pint before entering and most bought them in the concourse.
Off the top of my head.
