I hope it doesn’t happen, ie be bought out by Man City style billionaires. Would totally change NUfC - no links whatsoever to the club that has all the history.

I’d never want us to be ‘man city’d’ For the record..... where winning becomes easy / inevitable almost.

It’s a difficult one,

Everyone would want their team to win the top trophies, however, Man City/Chelsea’s etc have basically just bought them. Having watched the city end at Wembley in the FA cup final, I thought the soul was gone from being a proper supported team. It was lifeless, tourists taking selfies etc.

Sunderland, like the mags can always say we are a proper old fashioned football club. We won things, albeit a lot of years ago. But we won trophies with a lot of local lads on working class wages.

This is one of pet hates with the mags when they bang on about “get wu back to the glory days of keegan” The glory days they keep banging about was a period were they won nothing.

They had success years ago, yet they never seem to mention it. They rather talk about a time when they nearly won something. It’s a case of the Sky culture imo.

Agreed mate - it’s s the PlayStation fifa culture I reckon - all about the glory, nothing about the team or the football or the history or the region.

Trying to find a link between a SAFC team who have bough messi for £100m and the John Byrne days that I grew up with would be impossible. A total break in the club culture and roots - a different club you might say. I’d hate that.

NUfC have the same history tbh - whether they like it or not - so would have the same legacy issues

sorry mate but thats bollocks.

i was 7 when we won the fairs cup, i only have the faintest memories of it. i cam temember me old man being very happy more than the achievement.
there's no doubt that a clubs history is important, but it's EVERY supporters dream to see their club win something.
times running out for my generation (be they red and white or black and white) to actually see this happen.
we nearly did it during the keegan years, what the fucks wrong with hoping that possibility might come back?!

Do you think you’ve got a chance of winning a title soon?
