Confident about next season

After listening to the podcast and hearing that there will be investment I feel better about it.

Hopefully we can build on, I think we may loose the high wage earners but of that gets in 5 or 6 players to strengthen. I can live with it. As long as money is wisely spent. The board and manager are on borrowed time before the fans turn and they know it.

There was investment last season. We spent more than every club in the league combined and were still shite

Its not the players thatbwere the problem its the manager and i i ha absolutely no faith he will learn from his mistakes.

We only need to improve slightly plus I don't think the new teams we will face will be as much of a threat as Barnsley and Charlton were

I am much more confident than I was last year, cant come soon enough for me.
Same. We don't need major surgery to the squad IMHO and we have quality that will see us through together with the experience of this season just gone. We were too naive at times on and off the pitch. I'm sure players and management staff will have learned from this and use it as a learning experience to put into the new season

I can't see how people aren't confident tbh.

League 1 is weaker this upcoming season than the one just been. Of those who come down, one's out of the equation, one's very poor (Rotherham) and the other is a basket case. That leave us in a strong position. We narrowly lost the play-off, and still have the largest budget. All we need is a few improvements and, alongside the dip in quality, we should be fine.

Then again, I also thought we'd cream last season so what the fuck do I know?

We will lose several players so depends what you mean by major

We live in hope. For his sake alone he has to.

Depends what you mean by several

Matthews and Ruiter will definitely leave. Both will need to be replaced
Oviedo will probably leave but doens't need replacing as we have Hume and James
Dunne, Sterling and Morgan will of course leave, only Dunne needs replacing really

If that is the sum total of the leavers then we probably only need 4 or 5 players (GK, RB, CB, CM & CF)

That said, I hope will will improve other areas of the team. Still not major surgery compared to previous seasons

Let’s see what we bring in first, lots of scenarios could happen before the start of the season.

We could lose McGeedy, that would be a blow.
We need a 20 goal forward, that’s not easy.
We need a quick, powerful CH who can actually pass to one of our players.
We need a quick, powerful CM, who can pass to one of our players and score the odd goal.

Most of all we need JR to change to a less defensive minded game plan.

Agreed maybe add a winger to that and another cm although I don't think that will happen central midfield is a huge issue onien Robson Mumba Embleton Catts mcgeoch Leadbitter power honeyman loads of young or similar players ideally we need a few of quality but how many can we shift.

Will cattermole & Leadbitter run faster if a new manager comes in..

I’m confident in the owners and agree league one is weaker next season but think the owners have made a mistake in backing Jack Ross.

The bloke sets up to nullify the opposition and never makes them worry about us. This is a good tactic at times (Portsmouth away leg was a master class) but Sunderland’s should be playing with a bit of swagger at this level.

Let’s say we get to December and we’ve drawn a load of games. We’re off the pace and maybe we change manager. By then it’s too late to win the league and it’s play offs at best. We know our Wembley record (7 times for me) so it’s another wasted season in this league.

He has failed to blood the young players and the team has got worse over the season. Gooch started off looking like a player and is now terrible.

I would expect Sunderland’s in league one to regularly win some games 2/3 nil. Not happening under Jackdraw.

I don’t want to think that the best ever years of my Sunderland supporting life will be two 7 place finishes under Reid.

Depends on Ross’s mindset and wheter he changes his tactics it seems we get a goal then sit back on it, look at the draws we’ve had, Scunthorpe, Oxford, Burton 19 draws isn’t good enough for promotion, hopefully some investment and new players should freshen the squad up

This.

Next year will be more of the same, awful football, awful games, awful tctics, awful substitutions and way too many draws........

100 points man lol.
