Roker Rapport Podcast: With Stewart Donald (Tues 28th May)

Listened to the first half hour. Can’t be arsed with the rest after he started making excuses for the manager.

'man in the pub question' was the term he used. Disrespectful to the lad asking who's only doing what Charlie and Donald wanted him to do when they asked to be on the podcast. If they are going to belittle the people asking the questions like that then why even ask to do a podcast that asks questions submitted by the fans. Just stick to doing corporate events.

Donald didn't speak to him like shite. Seems this is Charlie's default attitude when approached with something he doesn't like.

It totally was a man in the pub question though, think people are being a little precious. Seems the in thing to be offended by everything Methven does at the moment.

What would you expect on a podcast that asks men from the pub what to ask on it?

CM knows fine well the type of questions that get asked on there so no idea why his dummy has gone.

Isn’t that who fanzines are supposed to Ben representing though? These are fans with the opportunity to represent the man in the pub. If Methven doesn’t want to talk to supporters and wants to be patronising, then he shouldn’t turn up. Donald was polite enough in not answering the question directly. All Methven had to say was ‘we can’t really answer that question, it’s for Jack Ross, so we’ll have to move on from it’. But he couldn’t. He went all Flashman as he did with the Metro interviewer when he took exception to his innocuous line of questioning too.

He could have answered it a bit better but wasn't really that rude or offensive. Bit of a mountain out of a mole hill

Haway man what were you expecting. They were hardly going to slate the bloke in a public way. Also they made their feelings pretty clear they weren't happy we didn't go up and Ross is under no illusions of what's expected of him next season

Wasn’t expecting much tbh you’re right. I’m not listening to 2 hours of hyperbole about 100 points etc. Will just judge things on the pitch instead next season, but I have low expectations of the currant incumbent of the managers chair.

I'm not overly keen tbh but he's going nee where so we have to get behind him.

Anyone who listens to the whole podcast will tell you that that isn't a fair summary at all. They talk about this at length

30 mins was enough for me, got a long queue of more interesting podcasts to get through, let's hope the talk turns into actions next season.

Ironically an exact echo of what they recognised on the podcast. What more can they do right now than this?

I don’t get his point at all. It’s not sensible to expect an interview with a fanzine not to focus on individual ‘employee’ performance. It’s just not.

In another business yes, maybe, but in football where performances are laid bare to the watching customers, we’re going to talk about individuals.

If he doesn’t want to talk about individuals he shouldn’t do the interviews.

I think you can ask the manager about the performance of players and the setup of the team. That's within his remit. Whether he answers honestly given the relationship he has to maintain with the players is a different matter. Even Ross himself is unlikely to be publicly negative about Grigg's performances, attributes or application.

I don't think a chairman should ever be talking publicly about the performance of individual players or tactical intricacies of the team. He employs a specialist to look after that (the manager) and he shouldn't undermine that specialist by voicing his own (uneducated / unqualified) opinions in public.
