Apologies if SEB, haven't seen anything about it. Bit of an odd interview like, suggesting Charlton are as big a club as us (seemingly specifically because they had more fans at Wembley and entirely ignoring the fact they had low attendances at the start of the season so effectively just had a lot of day trippers). Also mentioning the fans being quiet (can't really argue, although I'd argue that the football served up didn't exactly help). He divides opinion a bit so will be interesting to see how this one goes down

Not heard or seen what he's said, but if the peach pants wearing arsehole is having a go at the fans he can go fuck himself

Changing where the away fans are in the SOL took a lot of sting out of the atmosphere at the ground which hasn’t helped.
That mixed with absolutely gutless performances and successive relagations.
Totally agree, was better IMHO, many disagree though.

I think every single word he says is true.

You lot are so convinced we are the most amazing fans ever that when someone dare even suggest we are not, it's like a personal insult.

Well you don't as you always wanted an Awab.
We don't and he has insulted decent fans !

Still grates me that a bloke who said his ideal dinner guest would be Margaret Thatcher, had the audacity to strut around the pitch in front of the colliery banners like he was king ding. Whatever your politics that’s just being a prick.
I'm surprised people give him the time of day. Appears a fair few are starting to see through him now though

The roar when Mcgeady came on certainly wasn't louder than the roar when we scored. We did cheer when Mcgeady came on (and minutes before when he came out to warm up), mainly because the 35k fans in crowd didnt trust any of the players on the pitch to get us out the shit like he has the ability to. That speak volumes about peoples 'expectations' this season, and substantiates exactly why the fans shouldnt be grouped in with the players or the manager.

We've broke the league record for average attendances, we've broke the league record for a si gke attendance, we've took about 8k away to Blackpool, we've boosted opposition attendances that much nearly every side in the leagues highest home attendance is v us, we bought other more disadvantaged fans tickets when asked, we've travelled 1200 miles to Wembley and when it's came down to it I've sacked off going abroad with the kids on holiday and changed it to a cheaper one in UK to attend the last two.

In return this side has totally bottled auto promotion when in the driving seat with a handful of games to go, and bottled the game on Sunday and while we are hurting the most that pompous twat has turned a question that wasn't even about us into a dig at us just hours after the whistle and used us as an excuse for the failure of what's gone on on the pitch.

A day after he tells us to 'get real' after he's given it the biggun all season he's now saying we will get 100 points next season. Couldn't make it up.
Blokes a wanker. Said it weeks ago his attitude was starting to be abit off. The praise has gone,he now wants us to accept and cheer the shits he said at the start of season we shouldn’t have 2. He’s in for a shock this coming few weeks,as if Ross is still here any amount of fans won’t be making that next season card payment, then he will be rattled

Our repertoire these days is pretty tired anarl. Few year ago we contributed a few to the nation (I believe anyway unless someone points out someone else sang them first) such as on our way, cheer up peter reid - and I suppose inspired its variants! - my garden shed etc. Now the songs we sing are dirges. By far the greatest team reminds me of that Billy Connolly sketch about our national anthem compared to other countries anthems. Just tired and dull. Like the team I guess....

You think it judging by the size of club it’s hard to argue Charlton should have stayed down at our expense?

This was me up in the Gods. Shouted myself hoarse but nobody else were particularly vocal. Saying that it was actually a little better than the Checkatrade I thought.
My voice is still dodgy it culminated with a massive FUCK OFF !! When they scored..

For a Wembley final it was a bit subdued. I didn't think either set of fans made that much noise
Not an excuse but the probability was that every Sunderland fan in the stadium just kind of knew what the inevitable outcome of the game was going to be and were basically dumbstruck, if so their foresight was proven to be correct.

My parting gift was excuse me mr Ross that wasn’t the best now was it Or something like that
I’m not a big singer meself but i try and get involved but my section as mentioned earlier was grim.

Great post “ well said and I’m in same boat as having had to cancel our holidays as now skint, spent a bloody fortune following Sunderland but will be doing it all again next season

I agree. I felt the same. Found myself sitting with hands between knees almost praying at times.

We don't think we are amazing but when you turn up week in week out , watch in the main poor football, go to Wembley seven times ( never win) pay for kids to do the same including hotels..then get criticised for being too quiet when the players never even showed up, he's pointing the finger at the wrong target. It's hardly surprising some are not happy with our pr guru..

It was embarrassingly quiet. I can't get my head around people getting upset by these comments.

There no bullshitting the fact it was quiet. I was sat bang on half way line and you really could tell the difference like night and day.

Everyone needs to get their head around fact that turning up and getting so drunk you can't be arsed is not 'best fans in the land'
What about those that drove down at half 6 in the morning, getting there at kick off drained to fuck to watch that shite, hardly gave me the motivation to leap around and sing my arse off although I did try.

Maybe the players could have gave us something to cheer about. It works both ways. The clubs take take take from the fans and we get very little in return.
