Charlie Methven on metro radio

Which has been kind of my point. Yes you could probably class us as bigger but it’s hardly an absurd comparison.
Yes...but my point was that you said that you thought that Charlton will have had as many top ten finishes in the top division as we have had.
Yes...it is close, but not true.
Nothing for us to brag about, but it took me literally 3 minutes to check. Google is your friend....

As for anything else you said, I cannot argue on that....but for Charlie Methven to compare the ticket sales of the two clubs when the circumstances were totally different was badly thought out...at best.

Imagine them having a proper job, imagine them needing their wives to work to make ends meet, worra load of fuckin shite :lol:
Should have added that the text didnt happen and bobs off his tits but was stuck for time

Exactly marra. Useless bastards.

Entitlement culture? We just had our lowest ever finish and broke the average attendance record for the league (i think!). On what planet is promotion from league one an unrealistic expectation?
Your statements and questions do not address my point in the slightest. We really don't need to mimick the Mags with their approach to life which seems to be "I know what we deserve and I'm going to cry / shout at shops etc till we get it".
Both your quoted facts are true and give reason to feel disappointment.
As to your question, promotion from league one was a realistic expectation and yet was not achieved. Shit happens; you just have to get on with it.
Promotion remains a realistic expectation. No one is going to hand it to us on a plate. We need to begin the graft over again next year and hopefully this time do enough to earn it.

It’s been absolutely awful to watch. And people are understandably not that enthusiastic about watching League One football when your team is playing crap.
Cant think of many sides that would lift the roof because their team had held on for another draw or backs.to the wall 1-0 win against burton or the likes .

Methven can get fucked .wanker

Charlie has stated that we were quiet when we were quiet and the place goes into meltdown.
We had more possession, more shots on and off target and more corners than Charlton, so perhaps not as negative as some are making out, and Charlton fans never stopped getting behind their team..
If we are ever going to get back up the leagues then everyone has to be fighting for the course including supporters.

Mate - we were awful

How have we displayed an entitlement culture then? We had realistic goals and expectations that weren’t met.
To the best of our knowledge our fans haven’t cried or shouted at shops or anything close to it.

Promotion was and is a realistic goal. That does not make it an entitlement.
I expect SAFC to get promoted. I have to handle it when my expectations are not met.

There were some of our fans who went to London for the Checkatrade, had tickets, went on the piss in Trafalgar Square then sacked the match off and went on the piss in London on the Sunday too.
I bet most of the fans ( like me and me mates) who were trying to get some singing going had been at Trafalgar the night before. It's possible to both get pissed and sing at Trafalgar and at the match.

I've loved both weekends in London and watched mostly (apart from the first half against Pompey) absolute shite, mind numbingly boring, negative football at Wembley. I feel sorry for people who could only make it for the matches and didn't get to experience the Saturday.

Both nights were class as was Wembley Way and fanzone for hours before the game.

According to a source who works for the smoggies Charlie and Donald have fallen out over the investment issue and are currently not on the best of speaking terms.
I don’t know how the smoggie heirachy actually know this.

Apologies if SEB, haven't seen anything about it. Bit of an odd interview like, suggesting Charlton are as big a club as us (seemingly specifically because they had more fans at Wembley and entirely ignoring the fact they had low attendances at the start of the season so effectively just had a lot of day trippers). Also mentioning the fans being quiet (can't really argue, although I'd argue that the football served up didn't exactly help). He divides opinion a bit so will be interesting to see how this one goes down
Hard to disagree with anything he says tbh

I’m sick to death of fans getting the blame now, fans have went above and beyond this year, David Brent and he’s sidekick can bugger off

A few people on here should fully listen to the interview and then consider their posts.

He doesn't criticise the fans, nor say it was their fault.
He is honest in stating that we weren't good enough as a club/team, that real improvement is needed and that this season has been a failure
In response to the interviewer re size of club he was saying there are other large clubs such as Charlton and that we have to earn promotion, and cannot just expect it because we regard ourselves as the big club in L1.

Overall I have no issues with his comments, particularly as they were just after the match.
