This board puts down the fans all the time though from the non goers at the semi final to the pissed up,ones at the final

But because a director does it he's bang out of order

The director is asking people to buy tickets in one breath and slating an already demoralised fan base with another.

What business goes round publicly mocking their customers?

"Just watched your team surrender yet another lead in the most important game of the season, just two weeks after the same happened in a cup final, and continued to happen when we were 2nd in the league with two games in hand, eventually finishing 5th?

Well it's your fault as much as ours because Charlton live 20 mins away and brought 40k. Please renew"

From the team sheet being announced to the final whistle we didnt look capable of winning that final.

Unfortunately for charlie he doesnt understand how this atmosphere thing works.

We've had about 3 years of apathy in the fans and people need to see some substance to get behind it. If he wants the crowd to get behind the team then put a fuckin team out capable of winning ffs

It has been on both occasions this season
Too many hangovers from ts
Don't blame fans for enjoying themselves away from Wembley ..nowt to cheer there.Somebody asked yesterday ..how was the trip to london?..great apart from the game. The amount of times I've said that about us..meet some great fellow Safc fans, nice food, few beers , get hopefull about the game and then.....bang!

I didn't think the Charlton fans were that loud from where I was sitting, didn't hear anything from them until they scored.

I think he’s particularly lacking in understanding of the financing a trip to Wembley thing. It’d cost a minimum £100 to do the trip on an absolute budget for one person. That there were 34-35k able to do that in the space of two months is excellent support.

I was one of the supporters who defended City on the same issue. Some of the people associated with football are so out of touch when they start making thinly veiled criticisms of supporters

Said exactly the same to a few lads at work today

Fan base , history , seasons in the top flight , honours etc
Unfortunately mate history counts for bugger all. It’s what you do in the here and now that counts. It’s the attitude of what we once were that’s holding us back. You shouldn’t forget what we once were but it’s a mistake to assume it’s going to have any impact on the future.

Yet we categorically failed to address the gaping holes in our squad.

Recruitment is more than just ‘good players’ it’s good players who address issues.

be fair, at the start of the season 8 players turned up for pre season. issues was about all we had, and gaping holes were literally every single position.

It definitely does count for something. What you do in the here and now is impacted by history.

The strange thing is that Methven is the PR bloke, but often you hear him and he says some things that get people's backs up and then it's Donald who has to try and smooth everything over. I'd give a fair bit of leeway due to the timing of the interview, and at least he sounds passionate, but after the backing the club have had all season, records broken, huge expense twice for Wembley to be let down, I'm not keen to hear any criticism of the support. I'm sure it would have been louder if we'd actually attacked and had some sustained periods of pressure. As it was, other than being gifted a goal and Leadbitter having one shot, it seemed like it was constantly them looking more likely to make things happen. Atmospheres will never be great in those situations much though we'd all like to think everyone will sing and scream regardless

Saying nothing about the ticket selling mess...try putting all the choir together Charlie , they will make a better noise
