Not the owners fault marra.

It's the owners fault for calling fans parasites. It's the owners fault for quoting Charlton had more fans
It's the owners fault Jack Ross is still at the club
It's the owners fault for desperately pleading for fans to go to the match
That methven is vile. Would take the worm off a blind hen

so if t were to repay debt to short-that woul be the owners debt for pruchasing the clubpor not?

No - the group accounts show only £14.6m in cash payments for investments in subsidiaries. The logical explanation is that there was an agreement that £25m of the parachute payment to be used in paying down the debt, but the club didn't receive that until after the deal was completed. That means either the debt wasn't totally cleared until after completion, and the cash went to SBC, or that Short cleared all the debt, and was reimbursed for £25m of that post-completion. Unless or until the club clarify, there is no way of knowing.

Excellent.
So sweat equity, expenses and directors remuneration?
In real world could that mean that the average fan plus 2 trips to Wembley has actually put more real cash money into the club this season than Mr Salmon?
@Grumpy Old Man

No idea. Anything that has happened after July last year is not in the public domain.

but in either of those scenarios-the £25m was not used to pay for shares-so a different lot of money would have been used for that?

Just saying like it is, he’s right they were more Charlton and yes they were louder.

Get over it or turn up and make some f***ing noise.

They scored the equaliser, made some noise for 10 mins. Second half - Nothing. Then went mental on 94 mins.....who wouldn’t. People are making them out to be Red Star Belgrade today for some f***ing bizzare reason.

There was a £22m creditor in the books of Madrox at the year end. Short's charges over the club were not cleared until 25 April. Short was indeed paid for the shares in instalments, most of which fell due after the year end.

thank you-and i see where I misunderstood-your point about short "being reinbursed" for repaying debt-i didnt undersatnd what that was-but I do now.

Fans were quiet because we were f***ing shite, with no fight or desire and just sat back and waited to get beat.
This in a nutshell. When your team stands off the opposition all match are the fans really going to get excited enough to build a rousing atmosphere? Show a bit of fight and press the opposition like they did to us all game and the fans will rise to it.

You only need to see a few robust challenges or sliding tackles to get the crowd roaring them on, can’t remember one instance of this on Sunday.

That atmosphere was poor but the football was worse.
Strangely when they scored that own goal for us I didn't even celebrate. Not sure why, maybe shock at the manor of goal but to be honest, said to my dad next to me "I'll celebrate IF we score again!" Guess I had a feeling what was to come.
Sadly think we all knew what was coming ...and we didn't have the capability to stop it happening..could sense the people around us all knew ..it's like an inevitable failure bubble that hangs over us at key moments /games.

Not for the first time this season at Wembley either.
as i said on another thread..fans on here (not me) identified the minute they saw the lineup that a team that was presumably selected with the aim of a 0-0 with portsmouth in mind-would be unlikely to be as effective trying to win a game....those fans were right and im shocked JR hadnt though tthe same as them,..

So we should! We got 105 points after losing to Charlton in '98 so we have every right to set the bar high next season. You have to have ambition of you might as well give up. An extra 15 points is simply a case of converting some draws into wins and a good summer's recruitment could make the difference.

The problem we have is that most clubs we play at this level do see us as their cup final (I know, shit cliche), but check the stats - many clubs were below par in their next game after playing Sunderland suggesting they put everything into playing us and have nothing left for their next game. That is what we are up against but I have no qualms with Charlie Methven or anyone else setting 100 points as a target. Yes, it is unlikely - but it can be done.

If only we had a team anywhere near as good as that one.

 parasites out of context.
Charlton did have more fans. Can't believe anyone could get upset about that!
He's got nowt to do with Jr, and the majority of fans want jr to stay anyway.
He's increased our attendances.
Anyway bud. I'm not going to change your mind.
Up to now he's been great for us. 46k in league one!
Have a re read of the als interviews he gave.
We will have to agree to disagree!

He was spot on in calling how the game unfolded and if he’d left it there then this wouldn’t be an issue.

How anyone can say he was ‘spot on’ for completely needlessly saying Sunderland supporters need to ‘get real’ after being asked an innocuous question about a club of our size needing to be out of this division I do not know. From the very outset he has made a song and dance about the size of the club: ‘the biggest to ever have played in this division’ were his words. He also said were the biggest club in the north east. Now if you say that, and you’re two divisions below your nearest rivals and a division below your next nearest, the best way to deal with questions about playing below our level isn’t to start talking about attendances and fan volume. That’s cowardly IMO.

As an aside, he also wasn’t spot on about Charlton spending a major part of the last 20 or 30 in the top flight either.
Best post on this thread marra

He also needs to learn that if you come in and play to the gallery about us being ‘the biggest club to ever have played in this division’ and being bigger than the Mags etc then you have to deal with questions that emerge when we don’t get out of said division. And dealing with those questions by responding that we are no bigger than Charlton because they sold a few more thousand tickets for a fixture on their doorstep isn’t particularly the best way, sounds hypocritical and is unnecessarily provocative.
Are we that bigger than Charlton? Yes we get more fans but we get more than most clubs but we win nowt, challenge for nowt and don’t attract any big names even when we were in premier league.

There’s been an awful arrogance around our support this season in regsrds to labelling clubs ‘tinpot’ and claiming we are everyone’s cup final.

I get what you’re saying about the hypocrisy of his comments but I can dusageee with this one in isolation .
