Newcastle ufc (May 2019)

Was there an hour ago. That was the year my present Mrs R and i met -ish. She always slags me off for my negative opinion of Newcastle, even though i've spent a lot of my evenings there. Any leanings for me with that town are just proximity. My connections with Sunderland were partly to do with my job and wifes working there, but mostly my allegiance to SAFC.

First started going to Newcastle about then, clothes shopping and that. Fond memories.

Ah, my first wimpy, I was f***ing delighted.

Fairly certain that they use to serve the burger and chips on a proper plate with knives and forks

Few decent parking spots there right on Northumberland Street

Mad to think back when there was a road going up it.

Didn't it use to be the main road to Scotland?

Started work at the PPA then as a 16 year old. 194 bus to Heworth Metro, off at Central station and walk along to Tyne Bridge. Hated the job but enjoyed a daily Wimpy and reading Viz. Lasted two years before packing it in. The video makes things look older than I remember!

Watching Paris, Texas at the Tyneside Cinema, eating at Supernatural, Fred pouring pints at The Barley Mow, free tickets for The Tube, Quayside George, living in Garth Heads, Poly discos. They were the best of times..

Surprised I didn’t see myself and my mates from Farra who used to go through shoplifting in Fenwicks every weekend.

It's a bit of a creepy video with the slow motion bits.

Almost no fatties in 1985 and surprisingly not that many people smoking either.

Wankers in 1985 still wankers now.

To be fair they've got a 24 year spenk title....

At least you've won something lads.
Who got it for the other 10 years?

Am I you?

Drive past that site every other day - what a sad wreck it is now, can’t believe the council don’t force the owners to do something with it. Got all those gleaming buildings and then what looks like a WW2 bomb site! One of my favourite pubs back in the day, all types in there, canny terrace, then up to Riverside for top sounds.
