Griggs seems to have struggled with the expectation as much as anything, why do you think Evans wouldn't have suffered given the spotlight on him and many not accepting him from the start? Grigg's record is also better at League One level and their Championship records are similar. In fact in 2016/17 at Chesterfield Evans only scored 5 goals in 25 League games in his comeback season, 7 in 29 overall which isn't as good as Griggs here when he's struggled with form and fitness.

I think Chef Evans will have felt he had some thing more to prove, and talking about expectation, I think he will have had exactly the same level of expectation on him at sheff utd, than what he's had here. Plus what he's been through I'd say he's more than likely to be a tougher character than grigg, in fact I have no doubts about that

Why would he have something more to prove? If that was the case wouldn't he have been better staying at Sheff United and proving himself in the Championship, something which he hasn't done yet, than dropping back down to a level where he has?

And sure he had the spotlight on him elsewhere and he probably is mentally tough, but he went back to Sheff United after coming back at Chesterfield. Coming here he'd have less fans welcoming him from the off and much more media spotlight and an expectation to hit the ground running, whereas he had most Sheff United fans welcoming him back with open arms.
 
Griggs appointment was universally praised on here, the only thing I can remember people criticising was the transfer fee..

WTF? His whole actions at the time were questionable and he's a lucky man to have cleared his name all things considered. Doesn't matter if he's changed, it's also the stigma and the effect it would have on the club as a whole. The whole Adam Johnson affair and the negatives we've had to face in the last few years and the bond that the current owners are trying to build between the club and the fans should mean any SAFC fan should be wary of signing someone with a chequred pas (remember the negativity around PDC as well? - the press made a massive thing about it) it doesn't make someone an 'idiot' not to want that kind of negativity around the club for so little gain.

You don't think he has something to prove, he's had 3 years put the game, if he doesn't have something to prove I'm sure he will be wanting to make up for lost time. Not sure the media spotlight is greater her that st sheff utd to be honest. And don't you think it says something that sheff u wanted to resign him

i would say he is pretty skint given the time he was out of the game..so a deal based on he gets loads of money in bonuses would keep him very hungry..

The Adam Johnson affair has nothing to do with this, the bloke is innocent. It's people like you that are the baggage. The media leave him alone, he lives a quiet life, doesn't get into any trouble, he's been through something very traumatic, some thing many of us will never experience. It's people like you that are the stigma

But you're saying or implying you think he'd do well here because he's got something to prove, rather than he may struggle because of spotlight and expectation.

I'm saying if he's really got something to prove what's he doing playing for Fleetwood or in the third tier, what's that really proving? He struggled on his comeback at Chesterfield, struggled at Sheff United. What's to say he wouldn't also struggle here?

He just received 500k in damages, his father in law is a multi millionaire who was prepared to cover any clubs sponsorship losses should they resign him

Of course it has something to do with this, you really think the fans acceptance and the media spotlight doesn't play a part on what happens on the pitch? Naïve to the extreme....

Doesn't matter if he's innocent or not, he comes with baggage and lots of it as proven in January when there were meltdowns galore and the press got hold of it.

He didn't struggle at centerfield otherwise sheff utd wouldn't have signed him, he probably did struggle a bit at sheff utd, and given how good their squad was he wasn't getting a game, it was always going to take him a wee bit of time to catch up. I'd say he's done that at Fleetwood, and I think he'd be a hell of a signing for any team going for promotion next season put of this league

His goal record was worse than Grigg's has been since his arrival, I would call that struggling....


Sheff United signed him as he was fully fit again and he was cleared, they wanted to sign him in the first place and would have signed him straight away but for outside influences.

The Adam Johnson affair has nothing to do with this, one is guilty , one is innocent, you may call me naive, but it's idiots like you that link the two together.

500k eh? how many years was he out of football with no income? amd what was his average income when he had to stop..and what were his legal costs from the 500k..?
