There's fuck all actually in Newcastle itself

The Sage - Gateshead
Millennium Bridge - paid for by Gateshead council
The Baltic - Gateshead
Metro Centre - Gateshead
Angel of the North - Gateshead
Broon Ale - made in Tadcaster

Durham Cathedral - in errrr Durham

I'm surprised the Eiffel tower and the Statue of Liberty weren't included.

Rumour has it they wanted the Hollywood sign on it.

This is exactly what those “don’t care if we stay in League One” apologists need to understand;

The longer we reside in the lower divisions; the more NUFC will become the “club of the North East”.

Failure to get promoted this season would be catastrophic for us.

It is pretty funny how much this has wound so many up... I was hoping for something better myself after the reports of the cost but give credit where it is due. They raised the money and are doing something so good on them.

As to your other comment that NUFC may well become regarded as 'the club of the North East' this may happen but will be by the media and fans of clubs elsewhere. Those of a certain age do not, and will not ever, regard the North East as a one team area. We have 2 teams. They are NUFC and SAFC. We will always have a great rivalry which means nothing to the rest of the country thus their opinions are totally irrelevant.

As i have said many times neither club has been successful in my lifetime (50 years) yet we maintain clubs of this stature. Our support is simply outstanding. Obviously it represents a severe level of madness in the area. Nevertheless outstanding.

Completely sums the mags up. A Wearside cathedral on their flag. Looks to me like they have just copied eintracht Frankfurts flag from a few days ago. ..Anyone notice the small England flag with the County Durham logo in one of the corners too? its there every home game:evil:

As a born and bred pitmatic, let me tell you I’m from the county of Durham and from the city of Durham not the city of Sunderland or wearside
And your having a go at the flag
Durham, where Mackems’s come for their holidays

I've said it loads of times Sunderland is the team of Durham. We should use more Durham heritage on our flags etc. I know we can't afford it but would love club shops or even stalls in Durham City/Dalton Park/Metrocentre like the airport one we had before.

Let me tell you I am 4th generation of Sunderland supporters living and working in Durham pit villages going back to the origins of the club. In the days when you could get trains to Sunderland from Durham pit villages they would in their masses descend on Sunderland.
When I was a lad, Sunderland was part of County Durham and Sunderland was a natural extension of Durham. Whether it was in the mind or reflected by the river or where the coal ended up or where people just went for their summer holiday ( a day trip to Seaburn was the summer holiday to many) Durham was a much smaller place than it is now and Sunderland was very much the local economic/industrial heart of the region.
Seriously 40 years ago there were very few Newcastle supporters in Durham. I went to school in Durham City and I can’t remember anyone who supported Newcastle. Times change but you can’t claim allegiances and associations which have never existed... it’s pathetic.
As someone else said a Wearside Cathedral on a Tyneside football teams club. It’s pathetic, more pathetic than if we put Angel of The North on our flags
