Personally , I would like to see red and white hooped socks in our home kit at some point .
Not everyone’s cup of tea and a bit “rugby” style , but I would like a change if they are not going to be the traditional red with white tops .

Unpopular opinion but the 3 shirts we exited the premier league with were the best we've ever had. In fact, best I've seen any team have in terms of variety. Unfortunately they're completely soiled with the memory of Moyes, failure, relegation and mutinous players. So much so I wouldn't contemplate wearing one personally.

Point is, the best shirts we've had (as far as the general consensus goes) usually have a context of at least some tangible success. So I think fans calling for us to go for something that harks back to the past doesn't necessarily mean the best looking shirts.

I disagree, they were too messy. I still like the Umbro ones from c. 2009-11 though.

Bournemouth another with stripes on the back.... hopefully can you or can't you have stripes on the back debate is put to bed....That's Stoke, the scum, WBA and Bournemouth with new kits with a striped back.

Fortunately for them, none are supplied by adidas though marra!

Would like to see our home kit reflected as the away kit but in different colours, we've never done this IIRC, one manufacturer did a thing for a while where the inside collar and cuffs were the other strip, so it was like it was the same one inside out, which was quite clever, but an imaginative away top always boosts sales massively so hopefully a bit of effort instead of a bland Adidas template, but hey ho.

Of course you can have striped backs, it's Adidas who make all their striped tops with plain backs. Can't wait to be rid of them.

We should have a kit modelled on the 1999–2000 kit: proper red and white stripes front, back and sleeves, black shorts and, different from that kit which had black socks, we should have socks like the 1997-1999 kit: black with red tops.

In other words, proper Sunderland and not shite designed by people who've never seen a casey never mind a match.

There was hardly any debate about it, though.

It was a potential regulation, and Adidas decided block colour on the back of all their U.K. shirts. Manufacturers choice, so it is possible that it will be a block colour again. We’ll be no different to any other English team manufactured by Adidas. What puma, Umbro etc do is irrelevant.

New West Brom home kit, with stripes on the back

Not Adidas. It was a commercial decision by them to have plain backs last year. Hopefully back to stripes for next. Any Adidas striped kits released yet?

There's only us and Sheff Utd I can think of who have adidas kits with stripes playing in the UK so we'll see.

Either way be glad to see the back of adidas.

To be fair the kit with red shorts and black socks this season looked class. Very Bayern Munich 2010ish only wore that combination once or twice though

Next season will probably be this seasons Sheffield United kit but with red socks and sleeves on the top.
