I don't think it's an easy job as the players are f***ing shite. Look at Gooch for example, he literally can't do anything right, Centre halves, absolute donkeys, central midfielders are plodders. Grigg and Wyke have only shown glimpses.

Are we underachieving ? As a club yes, but as a team maybe not. Loads of players in this league would get in our team.

I would give Ross another chance , get some players in that have been scouted and not just brought in because they are free. Having said that if he did go I wouldn't lose too much sleep.

What are you on about? The manager is responsible for getting the best out of his players. All of the players have shown glimpses where they are better than the stock in this league, yet Ross cannot find a way to get them to function. That’s the managers fault not the players. Your gooch example is prime really, he was the best winger in the league for 2-3 months, then went to shit as soon as Ross changed his tactics from that lopsided 3 at the back thing. Is that goochs fault or Ross’?

ok once and for all ya prick I am in the know and have been for over 24 years if you cant accept that jog on

Michael grow up ya prat

with luck they might get Jack Ross FFS snide remarks when your telling everyone your getting a job at Sunderland as a scout

Why lie??
I’ve never said such a thing.
So who’s the prat?

Even poor players have good days. We have a few good players but quite a few shit ones, Gooch is a 1 trick pony, probably less. I don't think it's fair to blame the manager when Gooch consistently makes the wrong decision or can't control the football.
You can blame him for picking him but there's limited options.

Look I'm not really defending Ross but I think he should probably be given the chance of another transfer window and at least a shot at next season. Even if we don't improve we'll not be a million miles away when the new one comes in.

what the 3 or 4 lads who you know, that confirmed you saying you are after the scouting role at the club, I will start with M,D

Haha. You’re such an idiot.

I’m not after any role at the club. I already have 3 jobs I’m very happy doing thanks :)

Gooch is a terrible footballer. He’s been dog shit this season

A big problem is the acceptance of failure and incompetence at the club... almost as if acting cool and having the looks are the most important attributes

The start of the season he was outstanding. Scored a few and most assists in the league by some distance as well. He’s got worse and worse as the seasons gone on. Just like Baldwin, Flanagan, Matthews, power etc.

This trend of getting worse keeps going. I’m still not at the point where I’m actively wanting Ross out but when I think about him there’s not much I see in his favour. He’s four, uninspiring, negative, poor in the transfer market and his football is awful to watch.

At the start of the season we were attacking teams, pressing high and dominating large spells. Now if we get one goal, usually from a set piece because we don’t create enough chances, we try and defend it with a colander of a back four. I don’t know whether it’s him changing his style of play or something else but it isn’t good enough. Vast majority of managers at this level could achieve playoffs if they’d had the money we’ve had to spend.

I’ve never known a season like this, it’s as though you just don’t know which way to turn.
You give the manager a pass because of the shite and chaos he inherited.
Having to basically put together a new team in a very short space of time pre-season.
On the other hand game after game although we hardly ever lose, we’re watching the team struggle to see mediocre teams off, every game is a war of attrition, we’ve never been comfortable.
Sometimes you’re saying he’s not up to it, there seems to be a fundamental flaw in his teams, get rid.
On the other hand you say young manager, give him time you can’t keep changing the manager.
I haven’t got a clue.

It's a total fallacy that he inherited or sorted out a mess.

On the day of the first preseason match, he already had Jon McLaughlin, Lynden Gooch, George Honeyman, Aiden McGeady, Chris Maguire, Tom Flanagan, Reece James, Lee Cattermole, Josh Maja, Dylan McGeough, Adam Matthews, and Bryan Oviedo.

More than a full team of players, who have played more than 25 games this season. Including 8 internationals, the club captain, the best player in the division, four players who have played 100+ games in the Premier League, two others who have played at that level, and our top scorer.

That was nearly a month before the season started and before he spent a penny of his budget which was more than double the rest of the league combined.

The owners dealt with the shite - Ndong, Kone, Rodwell, Djilobodji - that was never an issue for Ross at all.

And if things were a mess, why is that we won four of our first 5 games, but we have only won 1 of our last 5 games.

He didn't sort out a mess, others did, he has had every possible advantage going for him, and the longer he works with the squad the worse we get.
The amount of people that seem to want to ignore the facts are unreal. This is bang on

Some post that sir. Straight to the point and pure realism. Well played.

One thing I genuinely thought is he's a level headed bloke and will learn from his mistakes. He clearly isn't.

The interview at the end was a tad alarming. He's waited until now to see there is a problem in us not performing for 90 mins.

I'm all for giving a manager a chance to turn things around.
But his inability to learn from previous matches and the players he brought in both pre and mid season have shown him to be clueless.
How can a supposedly top rated young manager not have the nouse and obvious vision to see what style of play suits us?
Coupled with playing Gooch and playing 09 at right back when he was bought as an attacking midfielder....which is one position we are missing.

I’m not in the ‘Ross out’ camp but serious questions need to be asked. He has said in his own words that not getting promoted would be a failure, and we have completely bottled the opportunity to go up automatically. Yes we still have the play offs, but I have absolutely no faith in us going up in them, simply down to the way we have performed recently.

Acquisition has been average, at best.

We have no particular style of play.

He fails to learn his lesson from countless games this season where we have gone negative when leading, only to concede late on. Last night we needed goals, a 1-0 win did absolutely fuck all for us. Yet we come out 2nd half and sit back and look to hold on to our 1-0 lead. Last night lies squarely on the tactics of our manager. Again
