Pompey is a weird place, a bit like a northern town transplanted down south. I've been living down here 20 years now and visiting a few years before that as my missus is from Pompey (almost). Arriving via the A3 the first thing that hits you is the stink from the mud flats and sewers which overflow directly into the harbour whenever there's heavy rain. Then you see the chimney from the waste incinerator right in the middle of a housing estate FFS, pumping out more smelly fumes over the locals. It isn't just John Westwood that stinks, everyone living in Pompey stinks of faeces and burnt tampax, they're so used to the smell though they don't realise it. Pompey was a good club once, I had a season ticket down there for over 10 years , I used to travel to games home and away even when I lived in London before we moved down there. Now I rarely go to Pompey matches, the atmosphere changed when they started recruiting all the mercenaries to try and win some trophies. The players were there for the money, the place filled up with fair weather fans and they thought they were big time. In reality they're like a pound shop Millwall, Billy big bollox when facing up to kids and pensioners but go all quiet when someone challenges them. Coked up chaves is what many of them are, I work in Pompey and every Friday afternoon we have a taxi turn up at work with the weekend supply of whatever chemical you want in the back. I've never seen so many people drugged up at work or out on the town, everyone seems to be on something, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Pompey posters on here aren't on something, nightnurse maybe?
Pompey, used to be a canny place now just full of Mockney chavs.
And we'll still spank them in the play off final 4-0. Nailed on.

Ignore ridiculous comments like that. There’s posters on every message board throwing spurious remarks like that about. You’re a grand old club, with a decent history. There should be no need for this ugly rivalry, but it’s here now, and it’s a sad indictment. A lot of it started on this board with a poster pretending to be a Pompey fan. He was posting endless drivel about how shite we are, and that you’re a much bigger, better club. I’m pretty certain he was an exiled Mag who also followed you, but it did set a level of debate that has lowered the tone.

I was in the bcb today. We were sat with three Pompey fans aged about 40 yrs old, go everywhere with them, good company and great lads. No colours good crack.

I wonder if NP do this to link a particular missile thrower (picked up on our cctv) to any harm done to a victim down below. Could be the difference between a charge of throwing a missile under the Football Offences Act or a more serious assault charge if it actually does some damage?

i think it’s Sunderland who feel threatened by our existence in league one . Keep ramming it down our throats that you are the bigger club like you have to make sure everyone knows it . We are proud of our club and our support as our community stopped this club from going out of business with just hours to spare . I think the real value of our club is our ability to appreciate that all fans love their clubs , we understand what being the underdog is and supporting an unfashionable club . That makes us humble . Something Sunderland most definately are not .

Fair point I remember the first game after either the Bataclan or Manchester arena terrorist attack and there was supposed to be a massive rise in security and searches. Everyone was told to get there much earlier than usual and other such things. The steward on my turnstile didn’t give a shite. You literally could have got a bazooka in.

Was working in your end yesterday and apart from the f***ing cretin who threw the smoke grenade , your lot were nowhere near as bad as some are making out. I heard quite a few fans actually apologizing for the incident and enquiring if anyone had been hurt.

Fair enough, not going to dispute it, I'd just noticed the thread seemed to be very critical of their fans when, from my experience in the ground, they'd largely been fine. I was quite vocal in my criticism of Coventry, and think a lot of their fans deserved a clip, to me Portsmouth were different, but if others saw a lot more coming over then fair enough. One thing though, I know it's only social media but at least the majority of their fans seem to have criticised the smoke bomb thrower, Coventry were determined to make excuses
