It might be lack of affiliation. St Patrick was and Irish Bishop, St David was a Welsh Bishop, where as our legend of St George is more of a fictional character. Often billed as an English hero in the crusades, he was not English, never visited here and died 700 years before the crusades. Over 1,700 years, the actual person has been changed into a legend with all sorts of deeds and history credited to him.Nowhare near as big as paddys day for some bizarre reason.
George was assigned Saint of England by a distant past king. He was chosen because of his bravery as a Roman soldier. Also Under horrendous torture he refused to renounce his faith. The king's thinking was his bravery would be inspiration to English soldiers who would be similarly brave.
This narrative about him not being English matters not at all. He wasn't chosen because he's a local lad. The usual suspects enjoy using that he's not English to try and put a damper on England's day. Really who cares where he's from.
At least find a photo that doesn't have a big banner in the background giving away the location.
